A Burger King logo with the usual words replaced with "Burger Meister" between the two buns and "Meister Burger" at the bottom. This is a dumb reference to a television show I watched as a child.

I passed this Mystery Spot many times as a child, but I don’t think I ever stopped. Might’ve been wary of the mystery aspect. Castle Rock, on the other hand, was a regular stop, much clearer what you were signing up for.

Very strange! On the far right hand side of my bracket, I see a checkmark beside Doolittle but on the far bottom of my bracket, it says I picked Paul's Boutique to be the winner. I'm not too familiar with the Challonge interface - does this make any sense?

If you see this, quote with an image from a game that released the year you were born. (Have never, ever seen this game before, but it does look very much like a product from 1967.)

Using one pic already on your phone, what is the announcement at 2:00 p.m.?
A panel from the comic book Love & Rockets where Hopey’s band is playing and the drummer is singing “We want the world and we want it bald”, which I take to be a riff on the line “We want the world and we want it all” from the Ramones song We Want the Airwaves. I used to have this image on a t-shirt.

My Letterboxd review of the film ARMORED in which I quote my wife’s reaction to my description of the film. “Sounds like a bunch of actors who should know better”, she said. I agreed.

Images like the last panel of this page here remain seared into my brain.
Page 2 of the story "Mole!" from the 1950s Mad comic book, art by Will Elder. The villain known as Mole tunnels into a bank to rob it, but finds himself surrounded by cops when he emerges from his tunnel into the valut. The page culminates with the Mole pulling out a tommy gun and mowing down all of the cops, calling them "John Law" as he does so.

I don't think my Dad ever recommended a book to me, but one day, after a long day of work, he came home and threw this in my direction. Don't know why, not sure how it came into his possession, he certainly hadn't read it, but I was ready for it, and there was no looking back.

Re: Hee Haw, not sure if it ever made much of its Charlie Farquharson character's Canadian origins, but he had quite the cultural footprint up here. I came across this book while clearing out my mother-in-law's house. It's written in a cornpone Canuck dialect so dense it puts Trainspotting to shame.
