Bit of news to share, myself and @jonterhance.bsky.social have been awarded a @ukri.org grant to explore how emotions shape the temporal organisation of memory using quantum-like models. Quantum Cognition is coming to @newcastleuni.bsky.social! www.ncl.ac.uk/press/articl....

Scientists turn to quantum maths to decode the emotional mind
Emotions can reshape and distort our memories, and scientists are now using psychology, neuroscience, and even quantum maths to understand how our sense of timing and accuracy shifts.

I’ve been a fully-fledged British citizen for just over a week now but the truest test to date will be if this scone recipe, adapted to be gluten&dairy free, will pass judgment of British friends this evening. 😬 especially since they’re laced with maple syrup. You can take the Canuck out of Canada…

All this while refusing to call out Brexit as one of the main factors for Britains low growth and the rise in immigration after “Brexit got done.” Which allows Farage to evade his responsibility for the situation he now so happily exploits. This all helps only Reform.

Not once have we had a government which is willing to openly state the benefits of immigration to our society and our economy, the way that diversity has made us a wealthier and culturally richer country. Not once. And yet we're constantly told that we've been living in an experiment of no borders.

Incredibly depressing day. I've spent my entire life being told by British governments how dreadful immigration is. New Labour did it. The Coalition. The Brexiters. Now Starmer. All of them accusing the ones who came before them of failing to clamp down. The same old vacant mean-spirited bollocks.
