Still a high number, but five drinks a night for 10% of the population is far more believable than 10 drinks per night

When Data Journalism Goes Wrong
One of the great challenges in any discussion of what people consume is gauging the distribution. There is no “average American who plays videogames” or “eats sushi,” and therefore the aggregate consu...

I seem to remember reading something about the data in the image at one point and how it is flawed. 10% of US adults are not drinking 10+ drinks a day.

Indeed. It's basically at red lights and stop and go traffic that it's allowed. Once traffic is over 25 miles per hour, I have to merge back into a lane It helps lightly decongest by motorcycles not taking up as much space, and helps safety by keeping motorcyclists from getting sandwiched

Yeah pretty much everyone I see complaining on Facebook about "it shouldn't have been legalized" is complaining about something that has always been and still is illegal
110 1
Fr. Paul @canonlaw.ninja · 09/09/2026
And the state of Minnesota gravely neglected its legal obligation to educate the populace on the matter
020 2
Fr. Paul @canonlaw.ninja · 09/09/2026
And everyone should be all about lane filtering, lane splitting at 70 mph can stay in California
120 2
Fr. Paul @canonlaw.ninja · 09/09/2026
I should be clear, lane filtering is what is legal in Minnesota and it is a subtype of lane splitting
220 2
Fr. Paul @canonlaw.ninja · 09/09/2026
Lane splitting is how I prevent myself from getting sandwiched between a car and someone who was scrolling on his phone

I can't decide what my ideal stop-and-go traffic vehicle is On one hand, on my motorcycle I can lane split, which is very fun. On the other hand, stop-and-go traffic is the ideal situation for hypermiling in the Maverick

Definitely a political statement that I don't think a parish should be making because it will alienate people who might otherwise attend

It seems unclear to me whether his bishop called him back because his visa was denied, or whatever the order of operations there was
120 2
Fr. Paul @canonlaw.ninja · 28/08/2026
If I'm remembering correctly the Nigerian priest thing wasn't actually per se over deportation, it was that his bishop was calling him back (his visa was expiring but his bishop told him not to renew it and to return) But I agree with the sentiment overall

Your typical sports team doesn't really have an origin myth, they just file the paperwork and they start playing and that's that. The Minnesota Vikings, meanwhile, offer us two.

Depends on the cities. I had a cop tell me that no-shows might happen in big cities, but in suburbs cops are expected to show to court dates and if they don't it's a job performance issue.
