The tunes themselves are courtesy of the Forzatune calculator. Since I'm trying to apply a consistent standard, a calculator seemed like an obvious choice, and I find (and have receipts) them to be quicker and more manageable while still maintaining the car's character.

For the sake of not doing 30 versions of every car, I'm treating the swaps (except for widebody stuff, I'm considering that an extension of aero and follows aero rules) essentially like legendary upgrades. So they're always fully race-tuned. For now.

Follow each tier of the car's development by benchmarking each balanced milestone. The only exceptions I make are putting in all the tunable parts (except brakes) at the first upgrade tier. Suspension, transmission, diff. Aero once it boosts the PI.

They have classes and expressed intent re: build development. So I decided to take my cues from the game itself. First, the game divides upgrades into Street, Sport, and Race, with some exceptions and class-centric variants thrown in. So that's the upgrade path. Street -> Stock -> Race.

The trendlines are a bit janked because the index is truncated at 100 and 999, meaning actual performance at those values varies wildly. The trendline is a lot cleaner at 101-998, but really D-class is so wild the correlation falls apart below 300 lol

There are four colors of data points, corresponding to Road tunes (blue), Rally tunes (orange), and Offroad tunes (blue). White dots are for tunes that don't fit any of those categories (e.g. Highway). There are four trend lines -- three corresponding to each color/discipline, and a fourth white one for the dataset as a whole. All four trendlines describe a gently shallowing downward slope. There is a notable correlation between PI and lap times, with 0.1 second of lap time correlating to 1 point of PI score very reliably in the C, B, and A-class range.
