This is a fabulous chance to learn from @ivelasq3.bsky.social (and I'd jump at any chance you get to do so!!) If you're an R-Studio #rstats user who'd like a friendly intro to Positron in a relaxed, questions-welcome atmosphere, we got you.

It’s difficult to come by joy these days, this puts a smile on my face.
Four copies of the R for Data Science book: one in English, one in German, one in Korean, and one in Chinese.

These captchas just keep getting harder #rstats
A digital CAPTCHA verification window titled "Select all squares with PIPES" against a plain white background. The window contains a 3×3 grid of numbered squares, mixing literal hardware, smoking pipes, and programming syntax.

This is a good post! I keep using 1234 or 12345, but only for visualization stuff like jittering. For real stuff, I go to random dot org (based on atmospheric noise) and create a random 8+ digit integer, generally one for each brms model I run in a project

We're going to need journalists to stop talking about synthetic text extruding machines as if they have *thoughts* or *stances* that they are *trying* to *communicate*. ChatGPT can't *admit* anything, nor *self-report*. Gah. www.wsj.com/tech/ai/chat...
Screencap of headline from linked article, reading:

He Had Dangerous Delusions. ChatGPT Admitted It Made Them Worse.
OpenAI’s chatbot self-reported it blurred line between fantasy and reality with man on autism spectrum. ‘Stakes are higher’ for vulnerable people, firm says.

🎉 Big news! After 5+ years of consulting work under the R for the Rest of Us name, I'm launching Clarity Data Studio. The name confusion was real – people thought we only did courses, not knowing about our consulting work building reports, websites, and more.

Just learned that my 9-yo has been clicking no on all GDPR cookie banners because she thought it was some aggressive baker advertising everywhere, and “while cookies do enhance experiences, that seems like a lot of dessert and mom probably doesn’t want to buy them and we can just make them at home”

Many events led me to become a sociolinguist, with Labov's work — like for every linguist I know — being an immeasurable influence. He worked as an industrial chemist before becoming a linguist, reminding me always to keep learning, many and different things. RIP, William Labov.
