Very grim to see this motion pass - the Greens appear to be headed down a dark path. Solidarity with Jewish Green Party members and Jews across the UK, many of whom I am sure will be deeply affected by a major political party passing such an extreme motion. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

Worrying scenes in the Channel today, for all interested in asylum policy and maritime tactics. A small boat from Normandy spent more than 30 hours at sea. Those on board now on their 2nd rescue vessel as Border Force forced to play cat and mouse with far-right activists who have their own boat.

Six months on from this speech, today the Prime Minister has announced the introduction of specialist rape and sexual offence courts in every Crown Court. I can't tell you how much this change means, nor the difference these measures would have made for me and so many survivors I've worked with.

Proud to say the Gov is decriminalising rough sleeping today. 🫂 For 200 years, the Vagrancy Act has risked fines and criminal records for homeless people. This shift away from punishment is the first step in the Gov’s £3.6bn plan to end homelessness. www.bigissue.com/news/housing...

Rough sleeping will no longer see people fined or given a criminal record for being homeless as the Vagrancy Act is scrapped after 200 years.

The Gestapo marched hundreds of thousands of innocent people to their deaths. I've ended private schools' tax breaks to invest in state schools. No responsible leader makes vile comparisons like this. Kemi Badenoch is not fit to be Prime Minister.

I’m amazed anyone needs reminding of this, but local government spending power per person fell by 18% from 2010 to 2024 (would have been 26% but for increases in council tax). At the same time, social care pressures on local govt have grown a lot. The decay of the public realm is NOT a mystery

How have English councils’ funding and spending changed? 2010 to 2024 | Institute for Fiscal Studies
Increases in council funding over the last parliament have not reversed big cuts made during the 2010s, with spending on many services still down 40%.

The two-child limit led to shocking numbers of children going hungry. That's why we're abolishing it. It was introduced in 2017. The number of food bank parcels *tripled* after its introduction. No ifs. No buts. No child should be going hungry in Britain.
