My beloved 24 year old Toyota Echo with 280,000 just got a bunch of work done: new cat + O2 sensors, spark plugs, sway bars, brakes and rotors, valve cover, and a new PCV valve. Very expensive but worth every penny.

To celebrate my car hitting 280,000 miles I'm paying for a big repair to keep it safely operating. I'm OK with it though because the repair is only 1.5x the average car payment so it's still cheaper to fix than replace.

I just loaded up Nextdoor after moving to Seattle and the posts compared to living in the suburbs is night/day; most of the Seattle posts are pictures of flowers or birds in people's backyards whereas in the suburbs it's mostly people complaining about each other

Maybe I don't want to buy a house. Maybe I'd rather have a nice apartment directly on the lake so I can go kayaking anytime I want. I saw a unit at a place nearby for 1400/mo. That's way more attainable than some moldy rat infested shit hole selling for $800,000.
