It was down to 80 when I went out yesterday afternoon. Still not able to do my "normal" loop from last year, but getting closer. Superblasts made for an easy ride, managing injuries. Maybe I'll do marathons this year

The best way to fight back against the Paramount/Warner Brothers merger is to support independent artists, journalists, writers, filmmakers, musicians and everyone else who has been walking a very hard path to putting things out into the world.

I use intervals.icu to track productivity. It uses a time window to show if you are improving. Basically, the last ~40 days have been so weak I am now improving!

There is a strave segment no one else really contests. It was a long-ish (.7 miles?) straightaway, but a bit deep into a neighborhood. So it looks like they deleted it.

Okay, so here's a comic I made a couple years ago
A four panel comic called Know Your Northern Cardinals. Panel 1 is labeled Juvenile and has a young cardinal with a visible gape and patchy brown and red feathers. Panel 2 is labeled adult male and has an adult male cardinal with his beautiful red feathers, red bill, and black mask. Panel 3 is labeled Bloodcheep, Frightful Molt-demon of the Cursed Abyss and shows a bald cardinal undergoing a catastrophic molt. Panel 4 is labeled adult female and shows an adult female cardinal with a red bill, olive feathers, a few red patches, and a dark mask.

This article is fascinating! What should, on paper, be the truest possible way to be faithful to the original intent fails to account for technical limitations, now absent, that the original was designed to incorporate and accommodate.

One more data point: David Jolly and Angie Nixon pulled from exactly opposite bases. The more a precinct voted for Nixon, the less it voted for Jolly, and vice versa. To win, they must unite their complementary bases.
Scatterplot comparing precinct-level results in Florida’s Aug. 18 Democratic primaries for U.S. Senate and governor. Each gray circle represents one of 3,511 matched precincts in 43 counties, with larger circles representing more voters. The horizontal axis shows Angie Nixon’s share of the Nixon-Vindman Senate vote, from 0% to 100%, and the vertical axis shows David Jolly’s share of the Democratic governor vote, also from 0% to 100%. The points form a pronounced downward-sloping pattern: Precincts where Nixon performed better generally corresponded with weaker results for Jolly, while precincts where Jolly performed better generally corresponded with weaker results for Nixon. Dashed lines mark 50% on each axis, and an orange downward-sloping trend line emphasizes the inverse relationship.Six scatterplots show how Angie Nixon’s support in Florida’s Aug. 18 Democratic U.S. Senate primary varied with the racial and age composition of registered Democrats across precincts. Each blue circle represents a precinct, with larger circles representing more Nixon-Vindman votes; orange lines show vote-weighted trends. Nixon’s vote share rises sharply as the Black, non-Hispanic share increases and as the share of voters ages 18–35 increases. Her support falls as the white, non-Hispanic share, the share of voters 65 and older, and median age increase. The Hispanic-share plot is comparatively flat, showing little relationship with Nixon’s vote share. A dashed horizontal line in each panel marks 50%, separating precincts Nixon won from those Alex Vindman won.Six scatterplots show David Jolly’s share of the Democratic governor primary vote across 3,517 Florida precincts, compared with precinct demographics. His support trends higher in precincts with larger shares of white, older Democrats and lower in precincts with larger shares of Black, Hispanic and younger Democrats.
