Cal @calmakesart.bsky.social · 21hThese birds were so social that when one was shot the rest would come to their flock mate. Then the hunters would kill all of them. They lived in the same forest type, old bottom land forest and cypress swamp, that the Ivory Billed Woodpecker did. Both are gone, along with almost all of the forest. 121

These chestnuts survived an introduced blight that nearly wiped them out and are the best hope of bringing them back. 15235
