Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 11/09/2026As someone who works in AI alongside some of the smartest folks in the industry - none of whom are ringing the same alarm bells - this tweet couldn’t be more spot on. “AI Doomerism” and “AI Boomerism” are two sides of the same coin and they’re both irresponsible in different ways. 1238
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 08/04/2025That’s fascinating! I have so much to learn about this region. 110
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 08/04/2025Okay! My tour guide isn’t an expert on this so it was a guess from his end. Scholars say that evidence point the three wise men to being from Amedi; if scholars aren’t clear as to what religion they were, I’m unsure how my tour guide would have known then, ha. 110
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 07/04/2025He stated they would have likely been Jewish as the town was predominantly Jewish at the time 110
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 06/04/2025Good question, I’ll ask my tour guide tomorrow so I’ll follow up with what he says! 110
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 06/04/2025Today was a special day. I got to visit Amedi, where the Three Wise Men were living when they visited Jesus in Bethlehem. I'm truly not a religious person by any means but being able to visit historical places as such was still impactful for me. What an amazing place Iraqi Kurdistan is ♥️ 130
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 27/03/2025If I'm going to use travel advisories as my guideline for trips to book, maybe I should stop waiting until the last minute to check the visa requirements? 060
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 03/03/2025Reporting from Poland, what crime is he referencing? 🤔 000
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 02/03/2025Thank you for this! I’m looking forward to keeping up with your book publishing journey! 110
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 02/03/2025Good luck! How did you come across an editor? I've been meaning to write a book but I'm contemplating on talking with editors first to test the waters before devoting an insane amount of time writing. 120
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 22/02/2025I mean, whatever makes it easier for PiS to lose the upcoming presidential election I guess. 150
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 18/02/2025Poles in general will prioritize resisting against Russia over other things, so if the US buddies up with Putin - which is becoming increasingly evident - then I suspect the average Pole's perspective of the US may change, if it hasn't already (which it has, based on my experience living in Kraków). 010
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 09/02/2025It's hard to choose given that Poland does such a good job with both savory and sweet. I generally lean towards savory though, especially if kielbasa is part of the meal 😋 120
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 07/02/2025"They did not support our East Shield initiative, but at the same time they bring back border checks?" 🔥🔥🔥 000
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 02/02/2025Why is it that my favorite photo I’ve taken in Kraków is from a cheap disposable film camera? It makes me wonder if the sharper digital images - especially post-processed ones - distract us from the purpose of a photo, which is to enjoy the subject and scenery. 040
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 27/01/2025Still decompressing from attending the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. Words cannot express how moving the ceremony was. 040
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 09/01/2025Completed A1.1 of Polish today 🙌 It's my third language that I'm picking up and I'm hoping it won't be the last. Being able to say that I can speak with fluency in three different languages as a person who was born deaf is something I aspire to achieve, so hopefully this progress continues 🙏 130
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 07/01/2025Freshly-made espadin mezcal at a random palenque along the backroads in Oaxaca, Mexico, a path not advised for tourists to travel along for various reasons. It was a special moment as the mezcal was worth the adventure 😌 @foodshoptravel.bsky.social @tony-bookdirect.bsky.social #traveladdictfoodies 120
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 07/01/2025Bratislava is definitely on my list of places to go to; I'd love to see some of their communist-era buildings. Here's one from Bolivia when I visited Salar de Uyuni a long time ago. I've been itching to go back again with a better camera but this is the best I've got at the moment. 110
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 07/01/2025Wow, what a shame! I've heard great things about Albania so hopefully it gets a second chance. Tour guides can really make or break an experience as I've learned. 100
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 07/01/2025I didn't care much for Costa Rica, but I think that was mostly because it was jaded by being on a group tour that....just didn't need to be a group tour, if that makes sense. But my friend had never been abroad before so I went along with her preferences. I should give it a second chance. 110
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 06/01/2025Woah, I love how the photo turned out. Was this on film? I promise I'm not asking because it of this being taken 40 years ago 😅 110

Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 06/01/2025Unfortunately I just heard the same when I inquired some folks about it. Something about it seeming more like a money grab, so I’ll likely deprioritize this until things change. Sucks! 210
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 06/01/2025I hear that. I'm surprised Nomad Fest is still happening in Bankso this year, but I imagine they'll end up going elsewhere. Might be a good opportunity for me to finally hit up that conference and meet other folks though, I guess. 110
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 05/01/2025I know of someone who has been visiting Bansko every year or so, and she stated that her friend's B&B business took a huge hit after they joined Schengen due to the lack of nomads flocking there to build up non-Schengen time. I imagine that will happen with Romania as well, if not already. 110
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 03/01/2025Thank you for this and your other comment of knowledge, this was immensely helpful! 120
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 03/01/2025I appreciate that! I'm a new follower (particularly a new-ish user on BlueSky) so I'm still figuring my way around things here. Learning on my own is very much preferred so I'll take a look at the Patreon Blog, thanks for sharing! 230
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 03/01/2025The course sounds interesting and is something I'd love to learn more about myself! 120
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 03/01/2025These were fun to read through. I'm personally not a fan of guided tours - especially at those prices - but they certainly do give a lot of inspiration on where to possibly go on those trips. The "Roads & Kingdoms" one was super cool to read through. 100
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 01/01/2025Welcome to Schengen, Bulgaria and Romania! www.rte.ie/news/2025/01...rte.ieRomania, Bulgaria join Schengen zone after 13-year waitRomania and Bulgaria have become full members of the Schengen zone, expanding the borderless area to 29 members and ending a 13-year wait for the two eastern European countries. 061
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 31/12/2024Mexico City and Kraków. For CDMX, I visited there and thought there was something special about it. I then came back a few months later, met my (now) wife, and moved to Mexico for five years. One year was spent in CDMX but needless to say it played a special role in my life. #TravelAddictsTuesday✈️🗺️ 021
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 31/12/2024It's awful. My friend got off an 11-hour flight - undoubtedly very tired - and went through them seeing that her passport was eligible, so now she's trying to get her permanent residency back. I only knew because the wait was long enough for me to read the tiny font and get out of line. I was lucky. 100
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 31/12/2024Agreed! Folks' obsession to label themselves ✨ anything ✨ other than "tourist" is driving me mad. 000
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 31/12/2024Same with digital nomads. I read a discussion earlier today on what their definition of „living” somewhere means, and many stated they lived in 20+ countries because of staying there for 2-3 months and having a „favorite” bar 😂 Why can’t we all just be happy and admit we’re tourists when we travel? 010
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 31/12/2024Important: if you hold temporary or permanent residency in Mexico 🇲🇽, do not use the e-gates in the airports! They automatically give you an FMM and cancel your residency process, and no one wants to deal with INM to fix these issues. I repeat, Mexico’s airport e-gates are not for residents! 130
Caitlin Johnson @caitlindziuba.com · 30/12/2024Nice! 2025 will be my first full year of living in Poland so I hope to do many local trips. Aside from the 3 planned trips back to the States (all before June 😵💫), I hope to go to Georgia (🇬🇪), Kyrgyzstan, and/or Ethiopia. Ukraine is a possibility depending on how things go, but I'm not optimistic. 110
