Friendly reminder to take any and all influencer “psychologists” with a huge grain of salt, and triply so if they’re discussing personality disorders. Any sort of fearmongering language or sweeping generalizations are a big red flag, too. (This is my hill and I will die on it)

The big trendy topics right now are ADHD, autism, and personality disorders (mostly NPD)

ADHD and autism are publicly understood well enough that you may come across decent advice from an idiot. Personality disorders on the other hand are an EXTREMELY specialized part of the psych field and most *real, good* psych professionals are not qualified to diagnose or treat them

And they’re easy clickbait fodder because the general public is already so fearful and uneducated about them. So it’s very easy to make a video like “10 Signs Your Coworker is a Narcissist” and get a bunch of views while spreading misinformation and fear about what is at its heart a childhood trauma disorder
