damn. valve is at the mercy of industry players that dwarf them to such an extent they just have to deal with whatever they're being charged for access to the market? that sounds rough. can't imagine what that's like kotaku.com/valve-says-t...

strange coincidence but i noticed that there were 3 different games released near the end of the 7th gen consoles that were all the 5th entries in their franchises, and they've all been re-released to hell and back, and still don't have any sequels yet (well 2 are at least announced but still...)

(1/2) so just in case the gravity of the RAM shortage hasn't fully sunk in yet here's all consumer tech affected by the AI boom + resulting shortages: - RAM modules (ofc) - graphics cards (they have VRAM) - CPUs (they have cache) - SSDs (similar chips to RAM) - HDDs (AI data centers buying in bulk)

i don't want to be too much of a doomer on here. i know this site is an escape for a lot of people. i understand how important it is to have that. but man it feels like everything has been collapsing over the last year. the internet, economy, government... it's difficult for me to feel any hope rn.

AI has actively made life worse for literally everyone - tech is now more expensive - you cannot trust most media of reality anymore - programs barely function - energy prices - literal psychosis - your voice can be literally stolen for evil - more spyware but hey, you can avoid paying an artist.
