it looks like the local antiques market has been extra kind to us this week! @bzx34.bsky.social and I now have a (slightly rusty) armory

So first time doing traditional drawing in a long while. I definitely need more practice getting some of the shapes consistent, but it's less bad than I expected? And managed to accidentally have a bunch of tiny detail work I've been trying to figure out? Guess I need to do more pencil drawings...

Getting this done just under the wire, #SharkWeekSketchJam Day 8 - Choose your own shark! Thresher sharks are one of my absolute favorites because they use their tails to hunt via cavitation. And if I'm drawing a thresher shark, it's going to be @rillarequiem.bsky.social!

#SharkWeekSketchJam Day 7 - Frilled Shark! Such unique teeth! Also accidentally ended up with a goofy facial expression and then this.

Also, it's #FursuitFriday during shark week! Here's Charlotte being a lobster-eating gremlin at FCL. Not sure what a lemon shark is doing that far north, but she at least seems to be enjoying the food. 📸: @hypercat.me

Day 6 of #SharkWeekSketchJam! Tiger shark does not approve of you questioning her dietary decision to eat license plates. Was a little lazy today and went more classic furry-shark shapes.

Aaaand #SharkWeekSketchJam Day 5 - Gummy Shark! The Mustelus antarcticus variety, not the candy variety, I think. Thanks to @yop-dog.bsky.social for the idea of a shark margaritia (a shargarita if you will) that has candy gummy sharks, and the pun writes itself.

Time for Day 4 of #SharkWeekSketchJam! Today: Zebra shark! Starting to feel like I'm getting back in the rhythm of drawing.

Day 3 - Ghost Shark #SharkWeekSketchJam Ended up more friendly than my original plan, but I couldn't find a good front on ghost shark reference, so backup plan and digital glow shenanigans. I do love how ghost shark faces look, with the sensory organ lines mimicking bone lines. And, now I have ideas

when looking up references for day 3 of #sharkweeksketchjam, I ran into pics of the long nosed chimera, which is a species of Ghost shark, and my brain went from zero to "Zero...oh no, Nightmare Before Christmas...THIS IS HALOWEEN!!!" and now it won't stop.

#SharkWeekSketchJam Day 2 - Lemon Shark Lemon sharks may occasionally get possessive of divers... Charlotte the lemon shark is very attached to her cute sass-cat girlfriend, Mirage (@yop-dog.bsky.social), regardless of if there are other sharks around.

I think I've finally gotten caught up on sleep from AC! Just in time for #fursuitfriday too! I had such an amazing weekend, seeing friends, meeting up with the one-fish family, and hanging out with my cute shark girlfriend @bzx34.bsky.social! yes it was 12 million degrees out, but I had a blast!

Sappy post-con post time! #Anthrocon was such an awesome weekend! Definitely have a bit of PCD, but I got to have so many amazing times with friends, especially my cute sass-cat girlfriend Mirage @yop-dog.bsky.social! Thank you all for making this such a fantastic convention! See you next year?

Post-FCL adventure: the quintessential Maine lighthouse with @yop-dog.bsky.social #FursuitFriday

2025 has been a year with a lot of ups and downs for me (going to try to avoid discussing the larger state of the world, but it certainly has played a substantial role in a lot of things).

Turns out, I did actually catch the aurora borealis on the first day. Didn't realize it because I couldn't tell if I was seeing aurora or clouds.

An image of a yellowish-green streak of aurora borealis on a dark sky background. The rooftop/tree line forms a very dark border on the bottom edge of the image.

Tried to get a picture of the aurora borealis tonight, but results are uncertain. Still need to clean up the photos, but at least I've managed to figure out a little more of night photography. Too bad the CME from the X5.1 flare earlier will likely hit during daylight hours (for me).

This suit was finished August 2024. It's been to 3-4 conventions. I'm still pulling pins out of the body today. This is both impressive and concerning, and I'm fairly certain that there are still a few pins I have yet to find.

So quick moderate effort shitpost. But the end result is Loss Lizard Wizard

A tumblr post screenshot:
bumblebeebats: Found my 53yo very-much-not-online-father in the kitchen today meticulously arranging cutlery on the countertop and I was like "what are you doing" and he looked up at me with the world's most shit-eating grin and said "Your mother told me this is how you rick-roll the youth" and I looked over and it was fucking. Loss.jpg.
bumblebeebats: I must stress that he's never seen the original comic. My mother simply showed him the shorthand symbol and he memorized it. As far as he is aware this is just a fucking hieroglyph that deals instant psychic damage to everyone under the age of 30

Discord screenshot of Dr. Strange casting a spell
Now I want someone to draw a wizard or something who uses Dr Strange like magic circles only for it to have the loss runes in it

A drawing of an anthropomorphic frilled lizard in the same pose as Dr. Strange casting a spell. In front of their hand is a glowing rune of the minimalist loss depiction

In a similar vein, it turns out my current washer is just large enough to fit the behemoth bodysuit. That saves me roughly 12 hours of cleaning work. I may be bringing the suit out to more events knowing this.

Designing characters is fun. Knowing how much work said designs are going to create for me down the line, less fun. Then again, the challenge is somewhat the point, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Was feeling frustrated with my art, so went back to do a study from reference. Not a perfect match, but I feel better about my art after doing this. Plus, some much needed landscape practice. Still a lot of work to get where I want to be, but at least I'm drawing.
