Trans rights are human rights
An illustration of David Lynch portraying the character Gordon Cole in Twin Peaks Season 3 on top of a background of black and white chevrons. Around him are the words FIX YOUR HEARTS OR DIE, a variation on a larger exchange in the show spoken with the transgender character Denise Bryson: "When you became Denise I told all of your colleagues, those clown comics, to fix their hearts or die." The image is colored in white, pink, and blue to reflect the trans flag.

“…based on notes we received from SFWA’s contracts committee” is doing a lot of lying work here. MRM is using their correspondence with SFWA for reputation laundering and it’s gross.

This is, unfortunately, a VERY common strategy for AI grifters. They get the SEO as similar as possible in order to confuse and rip-off buyers unwilling or unable to hunt for the real book. And instead of moderating their selections, vendors are offloading that investigative work to the buyer.

The cover of The Executioner's Blade by Andrew Knighton. Art by Ben Baldwin.

The image shows an older, white-haired woman with a big sword over one shoulder. A dragon's tail is wound around her body. There is a cityscape in the background, and more fantastic beasts in the sky.

As a library worker, I love Novelist for reader's advisory, but it's also great as an author looking for comps lol.

Maybe Keepers of the Lost Cities by Shannon Messenger? I'd also recommend Artemis Fowl, though it's a bit older. City of Ghosts by V.E. Schwab might also be viable, if she likes middle grade horror. Have you ever used Novelist? It's a book recommendation site often available through your library.

Author @lauracranehill.bsky.social (WIFE SHAPED BODIES) joins to compare Stalker (1979) to the book it was based on: ROADSIDE PICNIC. This strange, beautiful film got us wondering, would this be the way to adapt her novel? Our full episode with her is available now wherever you listen to podcasts!

I fucking love that DS9 dragged some of its best characters through the worst of what they were capable of and expected them to either live with it or redeem themselves, and for us to forgive them, or simply come to terms with with their choices. Kira and O’Brien always represented this expectation.

Fiscally conservative appears to be a tipping point, though. In my personal experience, so many people that insisted they were "fiscally conservative" have shifted into full blown MAGA in the last 10 years.
