We put a DX7 editor up in AMYboard. Did anyone, and I mean anyone who didn’t work for Yamaha, ever create an FM preset from scratch? It’s impossibly arcane. The theory is hard to map to practice. But! Try it here (load a dx7 preset in), move some knobs amyboard.com/editor

Releasing the AMYboard today, a US$29 modular synth; standalone or as a base for DIY. It’s powered by our AMY open source synth engine. You can write music in Python or just use it as a synth. We want everyone to have fun making music without paying the modular fashion tax. Get a few: amyboard.com

Brian Whitman just launched the follow up to this, the AmyBoard, which takes the Tulip concept and puts it in a Eurorack form factor for 29 bucks. You can even 3D print a front cover. www.amyboard.com

"I told you... you ask me a question and after that you have to take a Kalashnikov to stop me!" I think about Eliane & her work often; beyond bedrock for me, but it was hearing her describe her music in the most animated, matter-of-fact way that sticks out; R.I.P. soundcloud.com/kfw/eliane-r...

Felt appropriate to post (you'll hear it within the first minute of the most recent "hit") that I've begun pushing the last 40 or so "Greatest Hits" onto their secondary home (after TIMJ went dark 10 years back) at soundcloud.com/kfw/sets/greatest-hits in time for that July 4th weekend marathon...

New AMY stuff: a fully synthesized piano voice using analyzed partials. It sounds amazing and runs on the tiniest microcontrollers. The blog post runs python itself locally including live synthesis! Please check it out shorepine.github.io/amy/piano.html
