Every technical service I know tries to schedule maintenance in like the middle of the night or when no one is using it. And then utility companies rly just be shutting off your water for maintenance at 10 in the morning with one day's notice.

I still cannot get over how fucking stupid this email is. This is an actual graduate from our university. Really cementing my regret in coming here if this is the type of person it produces. (this is in response to a meeting announcement about beginner web dev btw)

Email that reads:

You guys are building websites for personal portfolios? That is rather quaint don't you think? Not trying to be rude so I think I should be helpful. Are any of you using frameworks?

Bootstrap 5 or earlier plus a framework like flask, django, laravel(php <- dunno who uses it, I like php), Springboot(java <- everyone is so obsessed with Python but to really get into programming I feel you need to learn with java or some c language, I really like java, java is good), makes creating a website really easy. This is because any css for styling should be in large part handled by bootstrap's library. Similarly you can avoid coding a lot of javascript if you take advantage of bootstrap's library.

The reason for using a framework is because on a computer the fewer lines of code you can run the better you can utilize the computer's system resources as memory or RAM is always a problem. This is why they the faculty go on and on about optimization and doing things in less time.

Hope you guys make some cool sites. Also media queries or resizing for desktop, tablet and mobile screens all comes down to sizing of the screen, bootstrap 5 docs has information on that.

tauri on Linux specifically is so half baked - broken appimages under wayland with an LD_PRELOAD workaround required - broken on NVIDIA without environment variables (disable dmabuf renderer, disable compositing mode) due to upstream webkitgtk stuff - system theme dosen't sync properly
