Dude, it's nuts! I haven't seen this many pelicans at the sea since 2013 or 2014. What's really crazy is that there must have been a ton of fish planted at the south end, because most of the sea is way to saline to support life.

In the meantime, the habitat restoration area at the south end has been really successful this year. We had Caspian, gull-billed and Forster's terns breed successfully, as well as black skimmers. There are probably thousands of white pelicans here, larges number in probably ten years!

Congratulations! I had one today at the Salton Sea, but didn't recognize it as a Sabine's gull because I've never seen one in flight.

Lol, sorry about that, what a cool bird! I've only seen them three times in the past thirteen years. Here's a fledgling I saw in 2018.
