Hey Bluesky! Emerging from my dissertation-formatting cave to share that I defended my PhD last week! So many incredible people helped me reach this point, especially over the last few months as I scrambled to finish in time. I’m lucky to be surrounded by such good friends.
The cover slide from my dissertation defense talk. The background image is of a river flowing through rainforest in Ranomafana National Park, and along the sides are photos of various birds I studied in-hand. The title text reads: “Ecological diversification across taxonomic scale in three adaptive radiations of Malagasy birds”. Below that are listed my name (Anya Auerbach), my advisor Sushma Reddy, and my committee: Sharon Jansa, Keith Barker, Kieran McNulty, and David Fox.

That’s a wrap! There’s nothing quite like seeing ecologists and practitioners come together, sparking new ideas and collaborations. We can’t wait to bring this energy to Edinburgh next year. Until then, stay connected and stay inspired!

How do freshwater invertebrates respond to climate, land use, and nutrient levels—both when they occur independently and in combination? 🌿💧 I had an incredible time presenting this chapter of my DPhil at the BES Annual Meeting! Huge thanks to everyone who stoped by to chat . #BES2024 #phdlife
