On Mandela Day, Rhodes Scholar and Mandela Rhodes Scholar Sagel Kundieko organised an outreach event at Rhodes House. African Scholars based in Oxford gathered to to record tips and advice for high schoolers in Africa to encourage and support them with their own scholarship applications.

With great sadness we share that Sir Anthony Kenny passed away on 3 August, at the age of 95. He was an extremely well respected Warden of Rhodes House from 1989 to 1999 – and with his wife, Lady Nancy Kenny, was much loved by generations of Scholars.

Rhodes Scholar Yifan Hou is a Chinese chess grandmaster, four-time Women's World Chess Champion and is currently ranked as the number 1 female chess player in the world. She is currently a professor at Peking University, while continuing her work in chess education and research.

We were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Malcolm Whyte, who at the age of 105 was the longest-lived Rhodes Scholar. Malcolm built a distinguished career in medicine, research, and academic leadership, and was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 1991.
