The landlady at my local many years ago used to do this, except she’d also drop in a pickled egg before crushing it all together.

Aren’t ducks usually soggy?

Use only clippers, no scissors, and gaffer tape the nozzle of a hoover to them 😉

Do you have @sigmaxart.bsky.social’s Bifurcation in yet? I’d definitely like to reserve one of those if you do.

The cooked pastry is the best (least worst) part of those pies.

It’ll feel very different to when we were at NFC. 1/20th of the people, fewer events, less polish. Just a group of friends staying in a big house together for a long weekend ☺️. And you probably know a good proportion of the folks running things 😉

I got a massage there once, while waiting for my train home after Doggy Weekend. The slightly eccentric Chinese lady congratulated me on being gay, because “girls too much trouble, just want your money! Gay-boys fun!”

Have you been to Afflecks before?

Eh; I wouldn’t expect either of the guys to get hung up about it. If I shagged a bloke once and then he started something serious with the sister I don’t have, I’d find it hilarious and wish them both all the best.

He’s not wrong about the furry pilots, flight attendants, and ground crew. I don’t know any furry ATC folks, but probably. Where he goes wrong is in thinking this is somehow a problem.

The question is, did you merely get mocked for saying this, or were you seen smeared head to toe with yeast extract on a school trip to the coast?

Ok, this is definitely the slogan for the Animalz darkroom towards the end of the night 🤣

Late shopping day and platform luggage lockers make this sounds like it’s from the 70s, so they were probably paying cash.

This. I don’t mind paying for journalism - just look how shitty most of the other funding options turn out. But I’m not going to create an ongoing business relationship with every website anybody ever links to on BlueSky. Just give me a way to seamlessly pay for that one interesting-looking article.

The only games I play regularly are abstract word and number puzzles. So maybe some kind of very obscure legal or financial fraud?

I realise a printer is no longer considered an essential part of a computer at home. But it’s rather surprising to have one of our company offices, emailed a shipping label to send us some stuff, say they can’t use it as they don’t have a printer in the building!

At the 1850 end of that period, sure. But what sort of vessel was crossing Biscay to Southampton in 5 days in 5000BC?

Notable perhaps that the Dutch have two entirely separate words for riding a bike to get where you’re going while dressed like a normal person, and Being A Cyclist.

I got my passport stamped both times I went to France between Brexit and the new system. But both times were by sea so probably still no gates now, they’re more of an airport thing.
000
Buntline @buntline.dog · 09/09/2026
No, nor me in the Netherlands a couple of months ago. That’s because now there’s an EU-wide database to do the job. But Wikipedia seems to think those French auto gates were available to UK citizens before that, and I don’t understand how.
100
Buntline @buntline.dog · 09/09/2026
I was under the impression physical stamps were needed throughout that period - and certainly all my European travels during that time were funnelled through staffed booths and an ink stamp, until my first encounter with the new system in the Netherlands this year.
100
Buntline @buntline.dog · 09/09/2026
Do you know how that worked between Brexit and the new EU-wide entry/exit system? If I entered through a French automated gate and didn’t get a passport stamp, then left through Denmark, how would a Danish border official know I’d entered legally and hadn’t overstayed?
100
Buntline @buntline.dog · 09/09/2026
It should be easier now that their entry/exit database is up and running rather than having to rely on physical in and out stamps. I don’t think the policy has changed at all, it’s just a better more modern implementation for tracking those policies.

AI chatbots fawn over everybody. It’s one of the most obvious tells when someone’s pasted AI output into a place it doesn’t belong. What kind of fuckwit do you have to be not to realise this?

I used to be similar, until I discovered furries and properly came out in my late 30s. Turns out a lot of guys like a belly, and it does wonders for your body confidence to have someone attractive bounce up out of the blue and say “I’ve seen your pics online, you’re hot, wanna bang?”

Ah, Cross Country.

I wouldn’t assume that. I’ve quite often left a carriage that was busy but with a few seats free, to go to the loo, and found people sitting in the vestibule. Sometimes I’ll tell them “there’s seats in there if you want one” but I don’t think anyone’s ever moved 🤷

A referendum. Or, another act of parliament amending that one so that a referendum is no longer required after all.

I guess the early flight is in higher demand by business people wanting to go there and back same-day?

“Entartement” and “Le Gloupier” sound rather familiar. I think we were taught about this guy in my school French lessons 😁

I know, right? True story, I first started going to gay saunas because I was looking for somewhere in the UK that wouldn’t force me to wear clammy polyester. Until FlyBe folded I used to get cheap flights to Düsseldorf just for a decent sauna.

Nevil Shute’s “What Happened to the Corbetts” is an interesting prediction from that time. Air raids, food shortages (no mention of rationing), cholera epidemics from bomb-damaged drains and water mains, police checkpoints around cities.

They’ll know it’s not the *same* kid. But teenage boys drawing spunking cocks are a universal part of the human condition, whether it’s school desks, WW1 dugouts, or street corners in Pompeii.

As a teenager I did my Work Experience with a small IT company, many of whose clients were small law firms. Ok that was a while ago, but WordPerfect on DOS was obsolete even then, yet I saw so many PCs running it in those little local legal offices.
