The amount of family members I have on Facebook posting pics of their kids with those school day info plaques is disturbing. They really think meta is safe.

Carney is truly the Reagan of Canada. A calming, paternalistic figure in a period of apocalyptic uncertainty who galvanizes the economy with short-sighted right wing fiscal policies. And like Reagan, every disaster that Canada encounters in the future will be traceable to his administration.

I remember when California disliked Newsom so much they elected Schwarzenegger.

I filled up with gas at the cheap station today. It's about 30 minutes away. The pump was so slow. It was like "look how cheap this gas is. No. Really look." It was $1.73 a litre. In my city it's $2.06. Diesel is like $3 a litre. Sucks to be you mr. Dodge ram.

I'm a Canadian citizen that had a green card and lived in the USA. I relinquished my green card years ago. I still have US federal student loans. I have no real income. They kicked me off the IDR, so I went to a $10 a month plan, BUT I only have a Canadian bank and can't pay with it. JFC.

So it's been a month since I was in the ER with 2 broken toes. I can walk with a limp. My toes don't bend all the way anymore. No doctor followed up, so I guess I didn't need surgery. I've been basing my self care on the Leeds teaching hospital website. They even have exercise videos. Yea internet.

Somebody is yelling in the park at 1:20 am. I heard him yelling about 12 hours ago too. To himself. Telling his demons to shut up. Mental health resources are a joke here. Pisses me off that so many people are not getting what they need.

Well we're officially at the "dad is too old to remember" stage. He has completely forgotten he had the be threatened with getting me taken away as a child so he would stop hitting me. "I never hit you. I did shake you when you were a baby, but you wouldn't stop crying". Cool dad, cool.

Tim Curry was a horticulturist and designed gardens. He even designed one for Freddy Mercury. A man of many talents for sure! Rest well.

Just read Tongues by Anders Nilsen and it's amazing! The book itself is very tactile with some pages that fold out. The art is clean but pulls you in with detail. The best part is the story! So many questions and emotions tug and pull throughout the book. The first volume is already an epic!

My foot is freaking miserable today. I slept all day until 6:30pm. So exhausted. That's what I get for running errands yesterday. This broken foot thing is really punishing me for trying to live my life.

000

Sylvia Pacific @bunnyusagi.bsky.social · 23/08/2026

My neighbors have a chirping, dying smoke alarm that has been doing that for weeks. How long does that thing last before it stops??

Somebody idles their car every night in the parking lot in front on my townhouse. Like wtf? It's summer. My windows are open. Why are you doing that? They don't even go anywhere. They just sit in the car idling, then eventually shut it off.

Sylvia Pacific @bunnyusagi.bsky.social · 17/08/2026

I want to garden! My freaking broken toes foot is so bruised I can barely do anything. Hobbling around is not helping. So frustrating!!

Overheard in the ER yesterday; "I'm pretty anti vax, do I really need that tetanus shot?"

010

Sylvia Pacific @bunnyusagi.bsky.social · 12/08/2026

Fell off a ladder and had to go to the ER. Not many masks being worn, sad to say. I had an N95 on the entire 4 hours I was there. Turns out I broke 2 toes. Good times.

Canada should start vaccine tourism. Americans can come up here and buy a shot or 2 and see some sights.

I'm reading the unbeatable Squirrel Girl that checked out at the library and omg it's so different than any super hero comic I've ever read before! It's so funny and hopeful. I can't believe it took me this long to read it! Loving it! You just got a new fan!

So nice to open the windows again. Days of smoke filled air have kept them closed. I would go outside to take out the trash and come back with burning eyes and a sore throat. We really need more rain. This wildfire season is so miserable. Stay safe out there.

There was a dead mouse on our doormat today. It wasn't injured. It was just laying there dead. So strange. I thought maybe the neighbour's cat left me a present. Now I'm worried about poisoned mice getting into the house. My girls adore mice. It's their favourite toy/food.

I don't know how anyone can trust animal products are safe. They literally stand in their own shit all day crammed together in barns. Perfect breeding ground for bacteria.

Greenhouses with solar panel roofs. Power the lights to grow the food with batteries. Hydroponics. Recycle the water. We already have hothouses. Scale them up. Shield them at night to stop light pollution. Return the fields to nature.

There are wildfires in almost every province and territory in Canada right now. Just because the Americans aren't effected by smoke, doesn't mean there aren't fires. British Columbia has a huge fire near a vital electricity transfer station that provides power to most of the population.

Currently under heat an air quality warnings and mom asks us if we want to take a walk?? We (dad and I) explain that's really unhealthy. I offer to take her to the mall. She says no she wants to go outside. So she's sitting out there. Like a lizard breathing wildfire smoke and ozone.

I grew up jumping in puddles and thinking 2 weeks without rain was weird af. Now it goes 4-6 weeks without rain and that's considered "normal". That happened way to fast to be normal.

I finished reading Careless People by Sarah Wynn-Williams. The thing that shocked me most was how nothing was about money, it was all about control. They want everything to go through their products. To see all, own all, manipulate everything. It's so foreign to me. Zero humanity at Meta.

Gotta love when a relative asks if you would like to be told when you are "getting too excited and talking too much". Aka when I'm being "too autistic". So I'm either being cold and antisocial by not talking or being annoying by talking.
