Not like I was trying to, but now I'm not even allowed to make eye contact with them?? Fr tho, the amount of data those surveillance cameras are getting on ppl and the way the government wants to feed it into a database they don't delete is creeeeepy.

A FOIA request showed Medina County Sheriff's Office in OH using flock to search for anyone "who stopped near, stood in front of, or deliberately looked at a flock camera instead of walking past it". These cameras are often at intersections where ppl stop. unitingnow.substack.com/p/records-sh...
The exact prompt given to flock system obtained via FOIA that reads "Find any person on May 29 who stopped near, stood in front of, or deliberately looked at a Flock LPR camera instead of simply walking past it," while prioritizing "anyone associated with a small pickup truck, possibly a Dodge Dakota who may have been scouting locations before 10:05pm"

They are trying to turn cops into ICE. People srsly need to be going after their local representatives who allow for 287g contracts, especially the task force model contracts. Jurisdictions exist for good reason. Local cops shouldn't be running around acting as feds, let alone the secret police.

Every time I see something like this I see scientists genuinely trying to solve a problem in a way that major corporations will try to exploit as an excuse to continue on with outlandishly unsustainable practices and scream internally.

This both amazes me and fills me with horror. It's wild humans are so smart we can do things like this but it's also wild that we're so short-sighted and self-centered that we got ourselves to a point where we engineer things like *checks notes* 3d printed cookies made from upcylced plastics.

I know there is a lot going on right now, but anti-fascist youth are revolting in France and it's something we should all be taking some time to pay attention to. The protests have spread like wildfire, more protests are planned this week, and the state has been cracking down violently.

Hey Bridgeview, Y'all came to get tough on Jake Lang. But you also have neonazis standing on your side of the cops & barriers. One is Trevor Raein of "Evropean Americans". I believe Gregory Conte is also there. He co-organized Unite the Right in Charlottesville.

A lot just happened. Police cleared an exit for Lang and his group, who left in a large caravan. A cop in riot gear pushed at least one person hard to the ground in the process. Someone, not sure if police or one of Lang's, sprayed people with mace. Hearing reports of arrests but can't confirm atm.

Happening now in the Chicago suburb of Bridgeview: A few hundred people are out protesting right-wing provocateur Jake Lang and his attempted "crusader march" on the local Palestine Fest going on nearby. Police in riot gear just formed a line, with Lang's group behind them.

I've been largely avoiding social media to avoid this round of discourse. No court mandate or amount of social pressure can force someone to be rehabilitated. They have to be committed to changing on their own. I'm also sick of so much more care being shown for rapists than their victims.

Given the number of murders that surveillance cameras have not helped solve and the oversized police budget in Lansing where the police knew for almost a year that homeless men were being murdered in their sleep, I call bullshit. Piss poor policing. www.lansingstatejournal.com/story/news/l...

He said that it seems as though the victims were all attacked while they were laying down, likely asleep. The police chief blamed the attacks happening at night and a lack of surveillance cameras along the trail for the lack of any arrests over the course of almost a year since the first murder.

They certainly do know it when they are angry. I'm not about to sit here and play devil's advocate for a cop who was stalking a teenager. There's no good excuse for a cop showing a teenager (or anyone) a dead body even without the stalking at her home, school, and place of work.

Bumblejack @bumblejack.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
In the press conference he said he asked her if she wanted to see a dead body in an attempt to impress her. To me the best and most generous reading of what little information we have is this man is completely unhinged. I would personally take that as a threat.

He may have taken the photo as a legitimate part of an investigation (they gave very little context, so idk) but he tried to show the girl her photo while he was AT HER PLACE OF WORK. He mentioned when he would come in she would hide in the back. Can't fit the layers of fucked up in one post.

In the press release the sheriff went from talking abt how he was stalking this teenage girl to interjecting with "then he used the same police issued phone to take a photo of a dead body" and had to pause to say "the reason for this will become relevant soon". Idfk. Super creepy shit.

When I hear ppl saying cops should have access to surveillance tools they will definitely abuse in a way that puts all women and girls at risk bc "just think of the crime they solve", I think of The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas by Ursula LeGuin. "Do you accept the festival, the city, the joy?"

Wanna add "tracking people they were interested in" is a weird way to say "one used every database we have access to and LPRs to stalk a minor and the other used them to stalk a woman 20 yrs younger who already turned him down". The local press chose to help downplay proof cops can't be trusted.

When are ppl going to learn that the police aren't some magically extra-trustworthy group of people who are better than everyone else. Quite the opposite, bc they automatically are given trust and power and allowed to abuse it, the job always has and always will attract predators.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth: “Today, at my direction, we are announcing the creation of Autonomous Warfare Command, or AutoWarCom, a new four-star combatant command with service-like authorities built to scale autonomous and robotic capabilities across the joint force in the fastest peacetime shift in modern military history. None of those are good things. The federal government is trying to outsource ICE's dirty work, along with the liabilities that come along with it, to local law enforcement while making local law enforcement beholden to the federal government. And it's being done quietly with little pushback.
010
Bumblejack @bumblejack.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
There are many reasons there is a push to turn local LEOs into ICE: Local LEOs are less obvious & less likely to get community pushback. It normalizes local LEOs doing work for the feds for funding. Local taxes will fund ICE's federal work as local dept budgets expand to rely on federal funds.

Speaking of Ohio, less than a month prior to Rokita announcing that Indiana will be taking federal funds to increase the use of 287g's task force model Markwayne Mullin visited Ohio where during a roundtable w/local LEOs he said "ICE would LOVE to be a transport agency...that would be ideal for us."
101
Bumblejack @bumblejack.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Not only was the task force model for the 287g program previously done away with for exactly that reason in 2012, but it was also done away with in Gratis, Ohio just this year after a police chief went to multiple schools in Cincinnati claiming to be conducting "wellness checks" on behalf of ICE.
Screenshot from article that reads "It's the same program that several jurisdictions in Ohio are part of. The city of Gratis suspended its 287(g) agreement after its police chief visited multiple Cincinnati Public Schools earlier this year, saying she was conducting wellness checks on behalf of ICE.

The chief later resigned."
