Ope, my bad. I hope your homemade turns out well! It probably will be better than store bought, as most freshly homemade things are.

I find the best quality tofu at Asian markets like HMart or if a locally owned one is by you. Also, Trader Joe’s has good tofu, and two kinds of tofu- high protein extra firm and softer water-packed. I get my tempeh at TJs too.

All four were good. PRIMETIME phenomenal. Pattinson is great in this role. DARK END.. an unexpected little gem.. I thought it’d be a horror film. It was more of a bittersweet slice of life visual poem, but with a tinge of darkness.. I loved it.

Ok, I did not know that Mamdani has advocated for that re small businesses.

Economically, their philosophies and methods are polar opposites.

Yes, they’re both charismatic personalities, but similarities end there - I don’t think you understand “free market capitalism” - Reagan would never approve of gov’t ran grocery stores or taxing rush hour drivers. Gov’t interference in economy was what he railed against the most.

It’s crazy how bad The Onion has become. Like not just not funny, but actively harmful.

But at the same time, even back then, boys and men wanted women to act/look like porn stars. Then in the next breath, they’d complain about it and insult women for it.

000

I am 60, and this was a prevalent attitude in the 70s,80s, and 90s too. In fact, I remember it being more prevalent, then. “Slut shaming” is generally more frowned upon now. Whereas, in my youth, it was more universally accepted to say things like “well, did you see what she was wearing?”

Wasn’t there degradation of women in porn print magazines and films/videos, though? I don’t think it helps that porn is so much easier to access now, but… I’m not convinced it’s made things worse, either.

Oh, I think it’s even dumber than that - I sincerely believe they are just trolling all of us.

The Republican politicians in the US being all pro- A.I. is probably all you need to know about either Republicans or A.I.

If you see this, post a vampire that isn’t Dracula.

David Bowie dressed in 17th century clothing and powdered hair, holding a cello.

Ending a bit - only a bit - more hopeful than the book iirc. But overall, a very decent adaptation. I do recommend reading #TheRuins if you liked this movie, book is even better, more anxiety-inducing and terrifying.

Huh, I thought it was just weed, but I’m a square who can’t handle a 10 mg gummy, so what do I know? Coke it is, I guess..

#LastFourWatched #LetterboxdFriday THE WEIGHT was a pleasant surprise with a great ending. Gorgeous photography too. THE GENERAL is my 4th B. Keaton film. Disappointed - though technically perfect, esp. for its time. But the Lost Cause bs tainted it and it just wasn’t as funny as the other 3.

The screens really are turning us all into gibbering morons with no way to separate useful from useless information and that ignorance really did create a despotic government who would genuinely think fire department means department of setting fires. I'll never doubt your wisdom again, Mr. Bradbury

I had very mixed emotions about this one. I kinda hated it, but also kinda loved it for just going ALL. OUT. I saw it as a deconstruction of horror movies about ending up at the wrong house… but the twist is it’s a tourist rental in an urban area, instead of the rural trope of isolated hillbillies

It’s a weird and dumb and mean time to be alive, but Joyce Carol Oates’ eloquent eviscerations on twitter are an absolute joy to come across.

Today on Reddit, someone said if you do a search on #pinterest, but use a swear word before or after your search term, then it virtually eliminates AI and ads. I tried it. It works! After I typed in “fucking vegetable soup” I only got veg soup recipes from real ppl. What a world we live in…

Astounding to me that there are Mao stans at all. Just unreal. Gotta wonder how many of these are paid trolls.

So,hearing that distant rumble tonight is especially bittersweet for me. After every home game, it was tradition for the drum line to circle around the drum major while the latter danced. I can still see the sheer teenaged joy on my kid’s face as she danced to the drums. Also #GoHoffmanHawks

Among the bittersweetness of this time of year - the local high school is a mile or so from my house, so on certain Friday nights in autumn, I can hear the marching band’s drum line through my open window. 11 years ago, my daughter was the Drum Major of that band. 1/2

Oh wow, that’s right, suddenly the campus protests stopped or news media didn’t cover them. Also..anyone remember Syria being the reason leftists refused to vote for HRC in 2016? No one talks about Syria anymore, and they stopped talking about Syria right after January 2016.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched Finally watched A HARD DAYS NIGHT to the end. A surprisingly good film. A sort of parody of cinema verité as well as The Beatles themselves. LINOLEUM and INTERLOPERS both provocative sci-fi, but very different in tone and mood.. Ignore THE EXORCISM. I mean it.

It’s that wondrous time of year when I dig out my comfiest cardigan sweater and fuzzy house socks from the back of my closet… But I also need to throw all the windows open to luxuriate in that cool, crisp, summer-is-ending-and-winter-is-nigh air. #autumn #melancholia

I read PILGRIM AT TINKER CREEK when I was 19, and it changed how I saw everything around me… I also read and loved AN AMERICAN CHILDHOOD.
