#LastFourWatched #LetterboxdFriday THE WEIGHT was a pleasant surprise with a great ending. Gorgeous photography too. THE GENERAL is my 4th B. Keaton film. Disappointed - though technically perfect, esp. for its time. But the Lost Cause bs tainted it and it just wasn’t as funny as the other 3.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched Finally watched A HARD DAYS NIGHT to the end. A surprisingly good film. A sort of parody of cinema verité as well as The Beatles themselves. LINOLEUM and INTERLOPERS both provocative sci-fi, but very different in tone and mood.. Ignore THE EXORCISM. I mean it.

#Letterboxd #LastFourWatched Loved NOMADLAND. Faithful in scope and spirit to the nf book, which I also recommend. Pleasantly surprised by THE BEST YOU CAN. A wholesome and nuanced portrayal of relationships. Don’t watch BTDKYD if you’re slightly anxious about anything. WRETCHED was a dud.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched INCENDIES - Wow. I rarely give 5 * but wow, what an intense, gripping and harrowing film. Perfect storytelling. BACKROOMS - Love the ideas presented, homages to Borges, Dante, House of Leaves… But something’s missing - too many untied ends. But I liked it.

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched HOKUM was great. Folk horror perfected. I watched DRACULA UNTOLD & POMPEII tonight with my parents, whom I only see once or twice a year. But we enjoy watching movies together, and I liked these two mainly bc my dad chose them for us to watch.

I finally watched a movie!! For the 1st time in 2 weeks. THE CARETAKERS. 1963. Dir. Hall Bartlett W/Joan Crawford and Robert Stack. Poster is sensationalist and titillating, but the movie itself is anything but. It’s a thoughtful look at how the mentally ill were treated at the time. 4/5 stars

#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched 2nd time watching SINNERS - an excellent movie that far transcends it’s genre. Go see it if you haven’t yet. PRINCE OF DARKNESS needed a tad better script and acting but Carpenter still made it a very worthwhile watch. Other 2 - just ok.

#LastFourWatched #LetterboxdFriday I saw THE SHINING in a cinema for the first time (have seen it many times on tv and DVD) last night. In IMAX! I was skeptical at first re the IMAX part, but once the film started - WOW! That first shot over the mountains! And those scenes drenched in red… Wow.

#LastFourWatched #Letterbox’dFriday First two are very worthwhile - and both are very bleak. HONEY DON’T - a waste of two hours and it’s now ruined that song for me…Honey, don’t bother. 4th is ok. One of those films that’s good until just before the end, iykwim.
