In the Warhammer audiobooks I fall asleep to there’s a machine cult that considers artificial intelligence an abomination, so it lobotomizes human beings against their will and wires them into machinery, creating both extraordinary technological capacity and effectively horrifying imagery. Anyway,

Practically speaking it absolutely is. Lower-tier members of the ruling class/high-tier working class need to be able to replicate the social reproduction mechanisms of the elite or they’ll lack an interface protocol with the big dogs.

What I’m trying to figure out is whether conceiving of my life that way and delegating the tasks can make me competent enough at living to expand my life out from the pole I’ve had to retreat to sitting on.

The problem with everything is that it’s owned by people who listen to its whispers in their ear that tell them owning more of everything will make them happy. The good thing about genAI is that anyone can tell it to whisper how to take everything away from the people who own it.

Rich people make societal decisions. That’s the definition of being rich in a world where money buys the things society uses to reproduce itself. Please just read the book

A world where no one knows their own address or phone number isn’t per se a bad one, but if in that same world people don’t constitute social forms which reproduce comfortable conditions for mutual intellectual, moral, and social advancement it is.

Annoying how important something like bisexuality visibility day is. Shouldn’t be necessary, but it is. What a pain in the ass to be the subject of discourse, treated like a monolith, all because people need to be forced to accept that you exist. Solidarity, comrades

The actual existential threat posed by AI is the same as that posed by capitalism itself— the tolerance of a cycle of ever-escalating crises until the whole world dies. That’s what these people are afraid of, but their dumbass “rationalism” is incapable of examining their prior assumption that

You’re telling me the huge ad agency that deals in like imagery and archetypes didn’t mean to let the powerful and obvious visual metaphor slip into the image for the giant shoe company? Uh-huh, ok. Sure thing. Hey lemme see your wallet real quick.

Just saw the converse ad, sans context at first, and it took me probably five whole seconds to parse the image as something other than a hanged person. Lots of “obviously it’s not intentional, but…”s being thrown around. Insane. That shit’s clearly deliberate. They knew exactly what they were doing.

Humans co-evolved with their ecosystem as a meta species that pulsed as climate and ecology allowed contact and exchange, and then distance and differentiation. The Younger Dryas catastrophe killed off a classless, coastal meta civilization of transoceanic migratory natural farmers (Atlantis). What

The political-economy is being driven insane by trying to find a way to exploit a machine that reflects its own contradictions back at it- starting with the fact you can’t pay a machine less than it costs to reproduce.

We need to be fighting for democratic control of models, their training, and their infrastructure; individual and collective ownership- not licensing- of hardware and software; and education systems that produce adults with strong reading comprehension and critical thinking.

Idk man. I’ve made more progress in the last six months making the computer do things I’ve wanted it to do for a decade than I ever have before. I don’t see how you can be opposed to that. The enclosure keeps getting smaller, as do the blind spots in the panopticon. I don’t really think you *get*
