If a company holds your data it should be required by law to expose a consumer API this is fucking ridiculous.

Of course, maybe don’t take the word of the guy who chemically tortures insects to a death for a living.

“Adverse state in a non-persistent system” and “pain” are, like, similar, but it’s more like summoning an insect into existence for a few seconds if you ask me. We should be as kind as possible to kind to it, because we should be as kind as possible to everything, mostly for our own sake.

In the Warhammer audiobooks I fall asleep to there’s a machine cult that considers artificial intelligence an abomination, so it lobotomizes human beings against their will and wires them into machinery, creating both extraordinary technological capacity and effectively horrifying imagery. Anyway,

Like, the Rape Inc. board of directors isn’t going to voluntarily shutter all the company’s rape factories.
010
Bug (Wet Work) Man @bugman.wetbug.work · 30/09/2026
The solution is to take the decision away from the families whose succession is based on the rape factories. Which, as with essentially everything, ultimately reduces down to taking the means of production away from the ruling class.

Banning frats would force a very old form of class reproduction to find a new channel. It won’t happen till there’s a replacement already serving that purpose.

Bonesmen need to have a carrot to dangle, their bagmen need something for their family to aspire to.
120
Bug (Wet Work) Man @bugman.wetbug.work · 30/09/2026
Practically speaking it absolutely is. Lower-tier members of the ruling class/high-tier working class need to be able to replicate the social reproduction mechanisms of the elite or they’ll lack an interface protocol with the big dogs.

instrumented to reproduce our oppression yet. There’s a chance to stop that from happening NOW. We can kill the next Microsoft in its crib, but not if you’re unwilling to analyze the technology critically instead of just echoing what your tiny little bubble has decided is true.

“It’s going to take our jobs and be bad at them” c’mon, buddy. You really think your coworkers are GOOD at their jobs? “It’s killing the planet!” Granted, but that’s already locked in. Which brings me to my eternal point which is that it’s a new technology that hasn’t been fully enclosed and

“It steals ideas and art!” Yes, like capital always has and will. “It’s going to take our jobs!” Isn’t that what we want? You want wage slavery to persist? “They’re lying that it will take our jobs!” Well, yeah, they always lie. Maybe the truth isn’t the exact opposite of what they say.

Bug (Wet Work) Man @bugman.wetbug.work · 29/09/2026
I’m extremely dubious that any ban would take the ability to go from minimal tech knowledge to, e.g. building a functioning mesh network or obscuring network activity from ISPs away from workers and capitalists equally, and more dubious that one that did wouldn’t more

Bug (Wet Work) Man @bugman.wetbug.work · 29/09/2026
Well not “just”. And I don’t know enough to make sweeping generalizations like that. I can say, when family court fucks up it can fuck up big.
010
Bug (Wet Work) Man @bugman.wetbug.work · 29/09/2026
Yeah, the social failure absolutely does exist, it’s just that the courts don’t have the resources or statutory powers/instructions to act. I have some small, now old, insider experience as an investigative intern on the Marcy Webber case at her public defender’s office. Bleok.

People can argue for or against summary or vigilante execution of child abusers or NYT employees all they want, but his murder does more harm than good. We’ve got another messy situation with fuzzy facts and high emotions being used to make trans personhood arguable

Bug (Wet Work) Man @bugman.wetbug.work · 29/09/2026
Oh shit, I completely imagined the conviction, ty for the correction. This case fucking sucks. I mean, broadly, we live in a failed state. Family disputes are going to get “settled” this way. Everything is going to get “settled” this way. I want my people armed.

Bug (Wet Work) Man @bugman.wetbug.work · 29/09/2026
I emphatically agree, but, based only on the facts in the video, “Arm trans people [including specifically NYT employees convicted of child abuse]” is a lot to overcome, even to a sympathetic audience.

There’s no reason to have this fight rn. We have the society we have, and it gives us the tools it has to give us. It’s not feasible to handle criminal justice fairly and effectively. A just society wouldn’t have a lifetime sex offender registry because it wouldn’t need one, not because it’s unjust.

The enthusiasts have to build the thing other people want
000
Bug (Wet Work) Man @bugman.wetbug.work · 28/09/2026
But, enthusiasts always drastically overestimate other people’s desire to build what they’re building. It’s how we ended up with software and hardware being locked down and walled off by giant companies.

What I’m trying to figure out is whether conceiving of my life that way and delegating the tasks can make me competent enough at living to expand my life out from the pole I’ve had to retreat to sitting on.

If it encodes within itself all the contradictions of the MoP that reproduces it (and I’d stipulate that it does), then the answer to the question of whether it can be be used to dismantle class society rather than reinforce it is a matter of correct and sufficient struggle.

Same as anything, you can theoretically use it for the same purpose, but in practice the owner controls it and won’t allow it. The difference we have to determine is whether the nature of genAI is qualitatively different in that regard. Does it heighten the contradictions enough that it can’t

Bug (Wet Work) Man @bugman.wetbug.work · 28/09/2026
The problem with everything is that it’s owned by people who listen to its whispers in their ear that tell them owning more of everything will make them happy. The good thing about genAI is that anyone can tell it to whisper how to take everything away from the people who own it.
