Bluesky right now reminds me of when Reddit siphoned the entire Digg userbase. Digg was a monster. Nobody thought it was going anywhere. It was a personality driven internet hub (sound familiar). The downfall was faster than anyone could imagine. Digg is now a garbage news aggregator

Cross post from the bad place: Someone asked how to handle gendered languages with gender neutral characters Here is how we (Owlchemy) advised our translators on our non-binary characters. *We never gave them a trait list either, so they couldn't fall back on that.

Question from translators:
Some characters are being referred to as "they" throughout the game. In German (and other languages), there are no generally accepted terms like "they" to address someone in a gender-neutral way. Would it be possible to assign a gender to all characters? If so, do you have one in mind for them, e.g. XY shows masculine traits? This would make things much easier, as we wouldn't have to find workarounds, like avoiding pronouns or inventing nicknames.

Our response:
We understand that some languages don't have the ideal solution for this problem. It is important for us to create the highest level of inclusion in our games. This means we would like to address this in the most accepted way the language allows to include addressing non-gendered people. We will defer to the translators to find the "best practice" for the language. As for assigning genders- It is by design that we didn't assign gender to some characters and feel strongly against assigning them even …
