If you have a problem with "free Palestine" but can't come up with an alternative phrase, then you're not really interested in a discussion, but rather engaging in a bad-faith argument to shrink acceptable criticism of Israel to the point where nothing can be said lest it make Jews feel unsafe.

That is true. Social and legal stigma is one of the reasons why Palestinian Muslims don't typically convert to Judaism. But it also has no bearing on the fact that Palestinian attempts at conversion are rejected out of hand by religious and government authorities in Israel.

The Conversion Authority has in the past said it automatically rejects applications for conversion from Palestinians. I know of at least one (David Ben Avraham) who successfully converted, but Israel didn't grant him citizenship until after he was murdered by IDF soldiers who didn't believe him.

Respectfully, I disagree. The whole argument against allowing displaced Palestinians to return to Israel or let people in the West Bank be citizens of Israel is that it would undermine the Jewish character of the state (defined by law). What conversations do you think we need to be having?

But someone who is not ethnically Jewish can convert to Judaism (so long as the conversion is officially recognized by an Israeli government body) and thus gain all the privileges of being a Jewish citizen of Israel. I think that undermines the ethnicity argument.

Jews have a special, privileged position in Israeli society legally, correct? Both de facto and de jure, as defined by the Basic Law passed in July 2018. Intensity of people's religious belief isn't a good measure of a state being secular if one religion is elevated above the rest. Respectfully.
