I'm trying to recreate some basic features of Don't Starve in @construct.net. Why is 2.5D development so much fun? Trickery left and right :) Terrain is on a 3D layer, but billboards are on a 2D one, so there's no perspective distortion, but they do scale. #gamedev #prototype #construct3

We made another jam game! Wordpile is a bit like mahjong, but you have to find words to remove tiles. We started prototyping a tiny jam game the other day with the intention of joining the HEJ jam in March. One of the themes is "spring", so we went with a 2D pogo stick movement mechanic: play.lasermagnet.com/Boioiong/ Controls with WASD, very floaty at the moment (build 6). #gamedev #construct3

The important thing about all of this is that I keep throwing away my work and rebuilding it from scratch, very quickly and very regularly.

It’s way more fun to write code than it is to read code. If a prototype would require multiple weeks of coding to set up, then I simplify my design or just don’t do it. I want to retain my flexibility, my ability to shift directions and try out strange ideas, as much as possible.
