My wife bought me a journal of lovely handmade rag paper from Atelier Ecluse in #Montreal. I'm thinking to use it for studies based on my own found or photographed references. Pg 1. #sketchbook #sketching #inkandwash #inkandwatercolour #watercolour #fungifriends #artyear #tradart #natureart #nature

A sketchbook is open showing two small sketches. The top, a bough of Eastern Red Cedar. The bottom a cluster of golden waxy cap mushrooms. May their simple beauty give you pause and a moment to ground.

Ashbridges Bay #Toronto, as seen from Leslie Spit. Those clouds didn't give a single drop of rain. #Pleinair #watercolour (with Lake #Ontario water) on Winsor and Newton cold press. #landscape #scape #watercolor #painting #tradart #art

A watercolour landscape. Water fills the lower third. A ahorelibe emerges from the right with some high-rise buildings peeking above the trees. Dark clouds picking up some yellow from the sun emerge from the left along the lake's edge. May all beings be free.

Accidentally happened on a #rave this afternoon. Yes, this kind of thing does happen in #Toronto Portlands. Phantom Unity, which is apparently women-led, at Leslie Lookout park. #urbansketching #inkandwatercolour #watercolor #pleinair #stunday #artyear #dance #edm #sketching

Under blue skies with.puffy clouds a DJ in a concrete tower plats for a Dancing crowd in coloured light filtered through suspended flags. Dance like the people around you are too 🕺💃

Tomorrow's St.Bartholomew's day. His story is a gruesome and fascinating one. I'm far from an expert, but that he is often depicted with a knife edge towards himself (like this statue @st_barts_to) seems fitting. #Watercolour and graphite on Arches cold press. #painting #saints #tradart #artyear

A statue of St. BARTHOLOMEW depicted weilding a knife with the edge of the blade towards himself in a green robe. Watercolour and graphite on Arches cold press.

Stopped by these small rapids while hiking this morning in #Québec A mink popped its head out just as I was leaving - too late to be included in the sketch. #peinair #urbansketching #inkandwatercolour #watercolor #painting #tradarts #artyear #stunday #eastcoastkin #sketchbook #scape #landscape

A set of rapids courses between moss covered rocks and boulders. Trees line the river banks and cast shadows into the ravine. Its said that one can learn the dhamma through nature alone. May the trees, rocks and water whisper universal truths in your ears.

May all beings be free of all suffering 🙏 Here's a sketch I did of a Korean Buddha rupa that my kids gave me. Diamine Tobacco Sunburst ink - so luminous and fitting for this sketch. #sketch #inksketch #sketchbook #buddha #buddhism #metta #artyear

An ink sketch of a rather muscular Korean Buddha rupa done with Diamine Tobacco Sunburst ink. He is seated in Lotus posture with hands in the diamond mudra. May all who see this experience joy and calm.

"All is burning... burning with what?... the fires of greed, hatred, and delusion." #sn35.28 Another wildfire-smoke sunset. #wildfire #urbansketching #inkandwash #inkandwatercolour #watercolor #artyear #toronto #scape #cityscape

A sketchbook is held up in front of the scene depicted. An orange setting sun is obscured by wildfire smoke. In the foreground parking lot lights and a cell tower stand in front of trees and a cityscape. Karma's a bitch, ain't it?

Was at 10 Dean Cafe on Spadina in #Toronto this morning. Did a quick #urbansketch looking towards the bar. Exceptional coffee! #urbansketching #inkandwash #inkandwatercolour #watercolor #sketchbook #artyear #sketching

An open sketchbook shows a scene of a light, airy cafe into which a curving staircase descends. Someone sits at the bar, and some buildings are visible through the large windows. Did you read this? I spend a fair amount of time and effort on alt-text and want to know if it's reaching anyone. Let me know in the comments? Have a lovely day!

Did this quick #urbansketch of a building across the street while in the lobby waiting to see Macbeth at the Stratford Festival. Great production, screw the critics! Also, I love this brown Octopus ink. #urbansketching #inkandwash #inkandwatercolour #watercolor #artyear #sketchbook

A sketchbook is held up in front of the scene depicted. The side wall of an old yellow brick building with black-painted wood framing is behind a large tree. "Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more"

In #Stratford #Ontario this weekend to take in some #Shakespeare at the festival. The B&B we are staying in has this stunning mirror, so I did a little #urbansketching while waiting for the rain to pass. #inkandwash #inkandwatercolour #stunday #watercolor #sketchbook #artyear

A sketchbook is held up in front of the scene depicted. A gold-framed floor mirror reflects black a crown molded archway and some curtained windows. A plant sits to its left. "All the world's a stage and we are merely players."

I hate cars. I hate that I have to own one. I hate what they cost. I hate what driving them does to the environment - and to the people that drive them. #Sketching them is kinda fun, though! #sketchbook #inkandwash #inkandwatercolour #watercolor #artyear

A loose ink and watercolour sketch of three stylized cars. A red one in the tip left, a green one and a blue one in the bottom. May we grow up as a society and invest in some decent public transit.

My friend was late for tonight's #Toronto Blue Jays ⚾️ game, so I did a wee #sketch outside the roundhouse while waiting. #urbansketching #inksketch #plenair #sketchbook #artyear

A sketchbook is held up in front of the scene depicted. The old Don railway station building with conical roof is depicted in a loose ink sketch. Trees rise behind the building. May all your travels be smooth and your destination easy to find.

I love #sketching stained glass. Didn't have time to add colour before we left St. Bartholomew's in #RegentPark #Toronto - has its own effect, I suppose. #urbansketching #inksketch #sketchbook #angels

A loose black ink sketch of two stained glass windows, each depicting a winged angel. The o.e on the left, below a chalice sounds a bugle. The one on the right, beneath an illuminated crucifix, seems to be holding a staff? Maybe a flagpole? May your day be simple and uncluttered with anxiety and busyness 🙏

A card with a pink background, 1 large red heart, and multiple small ones is displayed. Sketched on the left is the Minar e Iqbal, and on the right is the CN Tower. May all beings experience unconditional and lasting love 🙏

The card described in the previous alt-text open-ended to show the hearts on the back as well as the cover art.
