Hi! Haven't been on bsky in a bit. There really wasn't a path of sustainability for the model we wanted to run. So, I decided to not launch rather than launch and have the service just die after we ran out of runway. I still think about it: ways it could've worked, ways it could still maybe work.

But delivering video itself? That's where the people who would need a platform like Altair the most would be the least able to help finance the cost. Along with a new community, discoverability, and that whole host of challenges... who would pay for what they essentially get for "free" with Twitch?

I still love the identity and social features we had planned. I've been taking those ideas to my different jobs since Altair. I still think the community is missing firm connections outside of the microblogging platforms. Like, "who did the art for this person" or things like that.

Just brainstorming out loud here since the topic hasn't come up in a while. Had an idea where streaming would be opt-in, but there'd be a cost involved, I haven't done enough research on what that would be though. Subs could offset the cost, anything above that would be profit.

It has been 1876 days since @discord.com launched the Threads feature. I have not been able to move a thread from one forum to another in 1876 days. But hey, how about them ORBs?

Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos, it scared me off of literally any other dungeon crawler. Knowing I could move left, the game telling me I couldn't, turning, and then booking it out of my computer room to my bed after seeing the monster that'd inevitably kill me. Yep. It was my nightmare fuel.

In what was probably one of the best conversations of my nerd life: I spoke with a composer for 45 minutes about the intricacies of why game music is my favorite genre, all the way down to the patterns and instruments used. It was refreshing and a mind expansion at the same time. I fucking loved it.
