Hi! Haven't been on bsky in a bit. There really wasn't a path of sustainability for the model we wanted to run. So, I decided to not launch rather than launch and have the service just die after we ran out of runway. I still think about it: ways it could've worked, ways it could still maybe work.

It has been 1876 days since @discord.com launched the Threads feature. I have not been able to move a thread from one forum to another in 1876 days. But hey, how about them ORBs?

Why did it take 20 years for me to find myself in a position where I can come out of a meeting with leadership and feel like I'm actually pretty damn good at what I do?

Took me almost 10 years, but Twitch isn't even worth the wood on my soapbox anymore.

There are many communities on Twitch, but this one is... uniquely... mine.

A sequence of events:
- I announce thing I've made
- Excitement is had
- People expect to be able to break it
- They are never wrong

Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos, it scared me off of literally any other dungeon crawler. Knowing I could move left, the game telling me I couldn't, turning, and then booking it out of my computer room to my bed after seeing the monster that'd inevitably kill me. Yep. It was my nightmare fuel.

In what was probably one of the best conversations of my nerd life: I spoke with a composer for 45 minutes about the intricacies of why game music is my favorite genre, all the way down to the patterns and instruments used. It was refreshing and a mind expansion at the same time. I fucking loved it.

Passing the torch to a new generation of leaders would imply that he was a leader to begin with.

It's weird when you don't vibe with someone that everyone else seems to think really highly of. Makes me think that I'm wrong, but I still can't shake it.

"You mean to say that my role is to bring awesome people together and make sure they can build amazing things AND I have complete trust from leadership?" Yeah, I'm really settling into my new role.

Jettisoning myself from social media for a while. I’m always open to chat on Discord, I’m avalonstar over there and I’m bryanveloso on Instagram. We all have to look out for ourselves and each other, and in order for me to do that for those I care about, I need less of all of this.

TFW you’re architecting a small startup… for your overlay system. And you don’t even stream full-time anymore.

Got around to processing some of my favorite photos from the Wairarapa Dark Sky Reserve. First one is of the Magellanic Clouds, the other 3 of the Milky Way. It's still unbelievable to me that we were there AND that I was able to take these. It's a memory I'll cherish forever. 🇳🇿❤️

Night sky photograph showing the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds as two distinct fuzzy patches of light among countless stars, with a dark silhouette of trees and landscape along the bottom horizon.

Astrophotograph of the Milky Way galaxy stretching across a star-filled night sky, featuring a prominent orange and red emission nebula region glowing among the dense star fields and dark dust lanes.

Long exposure image of the Milky Way's galactic core showing dense concentrations of stars creating bright and dark patches across the night sky, with intricate dust lane structures visible throughout.

Dramatic view of the Milky Way's galactic center displaying a brilliant orange and yellow glow from the galaxy's core, contrasted against dark dust lanes and surrounded by countless stars in the night sky.
