Labour just don't get it. They don't get how scared people are with extreme weather becoming our new normal. We need voices in parliament that will force them to take wildfires seriously, not quietly shirk responsibility.

I spend so much time talking rubbish now. My dream is to get Birmingham onto the path of being a zero waste city, so I am getting stuck in and learning as much as I can about all the possible ways we can make things better for residents and the environment.

On a much more serious note, this is one of the reasons why we need more Green MPs in parliament. We cannot afford more MPs who will be influenced by Palantir and others desperate to keep the status quo. Challenge, not blindly following the government line is badly needed.

"This is yet another example of the corrosive revolving door between politics and big business lobbying that has no place in public life." @sianberry.bsky.social responds to Labour Peer Tom Watson being hired by US spy-tech giant Palantir.
THE CORROSIVE REVOLVING DOOR BETWEEN POLITICS AND BIG BUSINESS LOBBYING

SIAN BERRY
MP FOR BRIGHTON PAVILION

“Palantir, with its work for ICE in the US and the IDF, has no business at all in our NHS and public services.

Tom Watson has been employed to lobby his friends in the Labour Government.

It is a disgrace he is still a member of the House of Lords and holds the Labour whip.”

Good to see national recognition of what we're doing. Greens are running the largest local authority in Europe in a minority coalition, sorting out the mess left by a disastrous Labour administration before us. It's not glamorous, but it's very important. We're very glad to have Bushra join us.
