AI gives you the promise to be able to pretend to be cool and capable. That slutty guitar player from school who got the girl you were in love with? He's now rendered redundant and you can fall asleep to the sound of the girl's synthesized voice singing to you that she loves you (he still fucks her)
Screenshot of a post on X by Nick Saraev claiming that Spotify, Apple Music, and music streaming are “over” because recent advances in AI-generated music, including Suno v6, will enable infinitely personalized music. The post says current perceptions of AI music are based on technology from “2–3 generations ago.”

setup (shot hand held on a mirrorless holding the inverted lens like the absolute clown that I am, because I don't have access to the macro for the medium format any more and I can't justify to myself getting another one)
A small labelled Petri dish containing a fungal sample sits on black paper on a worktable. It is surrounded by a green cutting mat, a white card used as a backdrop, and photographic equipment, suggesting a tabletop setup for documenting the specimen.

I have this thing where I "record" photo sessions on Petri dishes, just for funsies. And I know there's no meaning nor real value to these... but on the left we were talking about hope and on the right I was talking to someone who's grieving and sometimes the microfluffsters just... get it.
Diptych of close-up photographs showing fungal growth. On the left, large soft white and pale beige colonies form dense, cottony spheres, with a few darker spots emerging from the surface. On the right, a darker mass of fine white filaments is densely covered with hundreds of tiny brown and black spherical structures, creating an intricate, granular texture.

Seems like there is some difference but it's something I can most likely adjust when I scan the negatives. (Yay, because I still have about a dozen expired rolls of films). Now let's go make some agar plates so that I can cover stuff in mold ✌️
A strip of developed Kodak Tri-X 400 black-and-white film is held in front of a bright window. Three consecutive frames show high-contrast outdoor scenes, including bare trees against a dark sky and dense foliage. The negatives appear well developed, with clear edge markings and frame numbers visible along the film. A palm plant and the façade of a neighboring building can be seen blurred through the window in the background.Close-up of a single black-and-white film negative held up to the light. The frame depicts a wooden sculpture with a prominent central vein and symmetrical fronds rendered in fine detail. Small water drops are visible on the film surface

These were both shot with Ale's grandfather's camera: I also need to see how reliable the inner light meter still is (although Tri-X is usually quite forgiving, which is why she's my baby). I really should have spent more time learning the craft, I would suck so much less by now 🤷🏻‍♀️
A person holds a black Canon AE-1 35 mm film camera with a Canon FD 50 mm f/1.8 lens in front of an open window. The camera has a red-and-white striped neck strap hanging down. Through the slightly dusty window, the weathered yellow walls of a neighboring building are visible, with peeling plaster, shuttered windows, exposed pipes, and a small flower box beneath one window. A white radiator sits below the windowsill, and warm afternoon light illuminates the scene.

Plan for the day is to find out how much of a problem it is to use film that expired in 2010 and compare it to fresh film (it's been a couple of years since I last developed stuff. Pray for me)
A film developing setup laid out on a white table. A large black changing bag with a zipper occupies the center, with a black-and-red daylight developing tank resting on top. Beside it are three bottles of Ilford chemicals: Ilfosol 3 developer, Ilfostop stop bath, and Rapid Fixer. In the foreground are several empty Kodak Professional Tri-X 400TX 35 mm film boxes, indicating the rolls have been loaded for processing. Two upholstered dining chairs and white cabinets are visible in the background.

Why do people keep saying that Nolan's Odyssey is the first movie ever made about the Odyssey? The film is directed by Mario Camerini, and produced by Dino De Laurentiis and Carlo Ponti. It stars Kirk Douglas, Silvana Mangano in a dual role as Penelope and Circe, and Anthony Quinn as Antinous.
A vintage lobby card for the 1959 film Ulysses. The left third features a yellow panel bordered in dark green with the tagline, “Mightiest of warriors! Mightiest of lovers! Mightiest of men!”, followed by the title Ulysses in large orange lettering, “Technicolor,” and cast and production credits below. The right side shows a dramatic scene in a forest: a muscular, bare-armed man in a simple brown tunic gently touches the forehead of a woman wearing an ornate pale blue gown with a jeweled green headdress and a sheer red shawl wrapped around her shoulders. They face one another with serious, intent expressions, framed by tree trunks and softly lit woodland scenery. The card shows slight age-related discoloration around the edges.

This is a portrait of his wife, which is like... HOW. "Leaf shutter? Pfft. How about leaf lens?" Also: why can't I just reside in a permanent state of silly side quests instead of having to work?
Black-and-white circular microscope photograph showing numerous rounded plant cells packed closely together. Each cell appears as a pale disc with a darker crescent or notch near its center, creating a repeating pattern against a dark background. The image is soft-focused and grainy, characteristic of an early scientific micrograph.

Is anyone out there building on Harold Wager’s experiments where he takes leaf epidermis and uses the plant's ocelli as a lens?
Scanned black-and-white page from the Annals of Botany titled Wager – Perception of Light in Plants. The page contains six circular microscope photographs arranged in two columns and numbered 1–6. Each image shows a different microscopic view of plant tissue, with varied patterns of rounded cells, ring-like structures, and dense cellular textures. The aged page has cream-colored paper, visible wear, and printed labels beneath each image.

"You know what would help on the hottest day so far? A 30 kg fur blanket" -Brenta
A large black-and-grey dog with a grizzled muzzle lies curled against a person on a grey sofa, resting its head on their chest and looking up toward the camera with warm amber eyes. Only the lower half of the person’s face and torso are visible; they are wearing a charcoal-grey button-up shirt and a gold ring. Soft natural light highlights the dog’s textured fur, while a lime-green cushion adds a bright accent in the corner of the otherwise muted, cosy scene.

Quote of the day, by Lasse Antoni Carlsen From Copenhagen Architecture Forum's Podcast: Archive: Sharing The City With Microbes, June 2nd 2026 podcasts.apple.com/it/podcast/c...
Screenshot of an iPhone displaying an article or podcast episode titled “Reimagining Urban Farming” from the Copenhagen Architecture Forum. A podcast player card with an orange cover reading “Exploring Architecture & Spatial Planning” overlays the top of the screen. Behind it, a highlighted quote in large serif text reads: “the cycle in which food is becoming shit is intact, but the cycle in which shit is becoming food is interrupted.” The status bar shows the time as 08:21, a 5G connection, and a 79% battery level.

Who could have imagined that a better understanding of the diagnostic criteria would have increased the number of diagnoses on the less obvious end of the spectrum? /s The whole article is exhausting. Not one non verbal autistic was interviewed. Not one.
Infographic titled “Autism’s rise looks different across spectrum.” A line graph compares the prevalence of profound and non-profound autism among 8-year-old children in the United States from 2000 to 2016, measured per 1,000 children. Two lines are shown: a light blue line for non-profound autism and a dark teal line for profound autism. Both increase over time, but the non-profound autism line rises much more steeply, from about 3.5 per 1,000 children in 2000 to about 14 per 1,000 in 2016. The profound autism line increases more gradually, from about 2.2 per 1,000 in 2000 to about 4.1 per 1,000 in 2016, with a slight dip around 2002 before rising steadily. A caption notes that prevalence of both profound and non-profound autism is increasing, but diagnoses of non-profound autism are growing faster. Data are from 15 U.S. sites monitored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; data for 2012 and 2014 were unavailable and excluded from the analysis.

The photograph is mostly monochrome except for subtle orange details on the front indicators. The car’s curved bodywork and chrome wire wheels stand out against the minimalist background.Still from Challengers. Close-up of Mike Faist. He has short blond hair and is resting his face against one hand, staring downward with a yearning expression. He wears a grey T-shirt. The image is softly lit with warm tones and shallow focus, creating an intimate, melancholic atmosphere.

That thing when you have the lesson about volatile organic compounds and it comes with a olive oil tasting. Win.
Two small white plastic cups containing olive oil samples sit on top of a printed worksheet titled “Screening Olfattivo” for evaluating extra virgin olive oil. The sheet includes tables for rating fruitiness, bitterness, and spiciness intensity. One cup is marked with a handwritten symbol, and a black pen rests along the right edge of the page.

So. According to Adobe the basic plan now costs more each month than it would cost me to just buy the thing, but I can get the "standard" plan if I don't need the Pro and that will save me (checks notes) 25 cents. To be fair it is a good assessment of how much those AI functions are worth to me.
Side-by-side comparison of two Adobe plans. On the left, “Creative Cloud Pro” (current plan) priced at €63.76/month, including over 20 apps, unlimited standard generative AI features, and 4,000 monthly premium AI credits. On the right, “Creative Cloud Standard” starting at €63.51/month, offering over 20 desktop apps like Photoshop and Illustrator with basic generative AI features, and a “Select plan” button below.

Person sitting on a train seat, wearing large transparent glasses and a white face mask. A pair of black over-ear headphones rests around their neck. They wear a cream sweater with black horizontal stripes and look slightly upward. Behind them, a grey coat hangs on a hook beside the train window, with parts of the train interior visible.

Ready to head to Florence for a new batch of classes about plants, art and social studies. There's about double the amount of people than usual on the train: I wonder how much the increasing gas prices are being a factor
Early morning light floods a nearly empty train station platform as the low sun shines directly down the tracks. The rails curve into the distance where a train approaches, framed by overhead electrical lines and concrete canopies. Warm golden light reflects off the tiled platform floor, contrasting with the cool gray structures.

Ready for another weekend of classes and train strikes. Telling myself this is the training montage part
Foggy urban street at dusk or early morning with low visibility. A tall streetlamp glows warm orange at the center, its light diffused by thick mist. Headlights from an approaching vehicle shine through the fog in the background. Parked cars line the right side of the street, and bicycles are clustered on the left near a building. A pedestrian crossing sign and zebra stripes are visible in the foreground, with cracked pavement leading into the hazy scene

A story in two screenshots (More than Trump's comment, the truly disappointing thing was hearing the male hockey players laughing. Do fucking better)
Screenshot of a news article with the headline “Trump mocks women’s hockey team while congratulating men on gold.” Subheadline states the president complained he would also have to invite the women’s team to the White House. The article is credited to Nikki McCann Ramirez, dated February 23, 2026. Below the text is a photo of Donald Trump speaking in front of a White House backdrop and U.S. flagScreenshot of an NBC News article headline reading “U.S. Women’s Hockey Team declines Trump’s invitation to the State of the Union.” Subheading says President Donald Trump invited both men’s and women’s hockey teams after Olympic gold medal wins. Below the headline is a photo of U.S. women’s hockey players celebrating on the ice, some wrapped in American flags.

Yes, team USA won. But Slovakia should be SO PROUD.
Bar chart titled “Countries by number of registered ice hockey players in 2023/24.” The United States (486,464) and Canada (470,030) have by far the most registered players. They are followed by Russia (100,263), Sweden (61,932), Finland (50,386), Switzerland (28,965), Czechia and Germany (both 24,425), France (16,509), Japan (13,764), Great Britain (11,277), and Slovakia (10,952).
