I was looking at Pagebound a while back, but didn't get around to setting it up. A lot of the GR alternatives I've seen have been stuffed full of AI, whereas this is very explicitly against it, which is nice. pagebound.co

Similar but much more niche: Through the Dragon's Eye. "Why did this educational program freak me out?" I used to ask myself. Then I looked it up and found out what the villain looked like.

I don't know about earliest, but all I remember of Return to Oz is that she had a chicken and there was a clockwork guy. And then my brain seems to have erased the rest of the film from my memory except a vague sense of fear.

This month I read an RPG (then ran it twice) and re-read some very good comics. 🐭🦊

A stack of books I read in September:

Qualia the Purple by Hisamitsu Ueo and Shirou Tsunashima
Root: The Roleplaying Game by Brendan Conway
Pretty Deadly vol 1-3 by Kelly Sue DeConnick and Emma Rios

High on the priority list for when I have a job and money again is to get more art of her. *looks wistfully into the distance*

I've come back to her a lot in the years since I made her (7 years ago!) because I love her so much. I even brought her in as an NPC in my long-running campaign (intended as a one-off, but the players had other ideas) and she ended up dating the mother of Chrissie's character 😅

Not shown in any of this is that Kari is very tall (6'7" + her tiara + always wearing heels) and is usually wielding a massive black stone hammer (because warlock powers let you do nonsense like that). She also drinks a lot of wine and has glassed people multiple times (or at least tried to).

🦇 Tiny Troublesome Witch ✨ @bruitist.bsky.social · 28/09/2026

And I found some old sketches Chrissie made while we were playing the campaign! These include the sunglasses she usually wears to hide her eyes and the innkeeper she romanced (who turned out to be a dragon).

A sketch of Kari (without her sunglasses).

A sketch of Kari kissing Kaida on the cheek as she pours her some wine.

And here's some Blood Ceremony, who served as inspiration for her background as a musician. What do you do when you're a goth in your 30s? In the real world, you buy lots of occult books and open a crystal shop. In D&D, you make a pact with the god of death and go on adventures.

Mainly so I can pull together all her aesthetic inspirations, so I don't keep losing them. Including Ash from DIE because, while I don't remember her being a conscious inspiration, it would be mad if she wasn't somewhere in the soup.

Making a thread about one of my D&D characters, because I just remade her with the 2024 rules, so I could play her again. Kari is an aasimar warlock (originally a hexblade, now celestial) who worships the Raven Queen. [Art by Chrissie, DM for the campaign I originally played Kari in]

A portrait of Kari. She has long white hair and completely white eyes. She's wearing a black dress with a high collar, a spiked black tiara, and black lipstick. Pictured on a purple heart background.

Tough to choose, so have 9 manga that have (perhaps unreasonably) burrowed their way into my heart. (And it's pretty much all recent stuff as I didn't start reading manga until a few years ago.) (Witch Hat would be on here, but I didn't want to have two by the same creator, so E&D wins.)

"Qualia the Purple" by Hisamitsu Ueo / Shirou Tsunashima

"The Moon on a Rainy Night" by Kuzushiro
"Delicious in Dungeon" by Ryoko Kui

That's a very good song suggestion, Deezer. Maybe that's why it's already in the playlist you're suggesting I add it to ...

Another month of just reading a couple of books, but they were both very good and one was technically multiple books in one ...

The two books I read in August:

All-New Wolverine by Tom Taylor (omnibus)
Decomposition Book by Sara Van Os

Delighted that a game developer had to make the decision for what Spider-Man running down a sloped glass roof would look like. And apparently they decided on "gay little jog".

I, for one, actually found the emergency alert very helpful and informative. Now. Does anyone have any advice for how to get a large amount of disposable barbecues and fireworks out of a pit? I've had a change of plans for the evening.
