Normally things like the playlist for the fireworks for the US 250 are the kinda job where a nerd agonizes over it for months, if not years. I do not feel that was true tonight. This was a fine playlist for a middle hour of a wedding, or drinking hour of a corporate event, but there was no “craft”.

I learned at Nats stadium you can have a personalized Topps “card” made for $15. This is the lone high point of an entirely mid stadium. Additionally the merch is so bad I only left with this card.

Wrestling Hot Take: there are very few wrestlers the average fan can do a bad impression of, and that is to the detriment of wrestling popularity. In “the good ol’ days” whenever you think that was, you could do a decent bad impression of your favs or AT LEAST sing their theme in some part.

I don’t share too much professional stuff, but I just won the Star award from MPI Potomac for volunteer work for the org. I am happy to have been recognized by my fellow event pros for my entertainment work. It’s not a thing that normally happens because of the lone nature of my work.

I am excited to finally get a set of dominos I have been passively looking for, for a while now. I am a big Bicycle cards nerd and can add this to my new plastic decks as permanent bicycle game stuff. Now to learn domino games.

If you love games, come to Unpub, even if you don't design games yourself. I get so much joy from playtesting events from seeing the essence of a game before it's coated in a glossy finish. If, like me, you believe games are art, playing prototypes lets you see the fingerprint of the artist.

The Overton window on national holidays shifted to a terrible place in like 24 hours. 🍊🤡 says there are too many paid days off, it’s costing the country billions, & rather than folks saying it’s stupid & racist they are deciding which holiday we should lose instead of Juneteenth. NONE of them!

I know me of a couple of years ago would have 🙄, but some of the joy of baseball sits in its slow pace of play. Every at bat is like scratching a scratcher ticket, you expect loss & hitting a win is great, but also a game w/ a clock can’t run off about therapy animals. Yep, that’s the point.

I think we need to all decide as much as we might not like why, seeing The Village People get the bag is great. Their musical space of “queer song straight people will hand dance to” has been taken over by “HOTTOGO!”, it’s 11:58pm for them and blue collar pensions are not what they were in the 70’s.
