I’ve been working very long hours to restock for my next two markets and I’m very tired. Today, I took advantage of an absolutely gorgeous afternoon to sit in the park and play solitaire with my new purse cards. I didn’t win.

The downside to listening to a book is that I do not know if this is the author’s mistake or the narrator’s. Am I listening to high literature? No. But this is potato chips on the couch literature that probably gets read more than the other kind so let’s try to improve literacy rates!

It’s important to me that, if you decide to write a book, you know that if your character is documenting something, the phrase is: “for posterity” not “for prosperity”. These two words are not interchangeable. This is not an example of the English language evolving, it’s just incorrect. Ok thx!

Also found the vintage mass market pulp section and was dying over the illustrations!!! I wanted every single book and I’d read them too, I wouldn’t just hoard them. But I would definitely also hoard them.

Wacky sci fi/fantasy book cover “Chiy-une” is the title and it features a bare chested dude shooing a rat gun while wearing an awesome amulet and cloak and sitting astride a weird-ass green monster with an oddly dressed woman gazing at him adoringly, also sitting on the weird monster.

Cap Kennedy # 10 Planet of Dread by Gregory Kern. Just a dude about to trip and stab himself because he really should not be running while looking behind himself and carrying a very sharp looking sword. There’s a crab-legged guy in the BG, a floating fireball and some sinister sky-eyes. This is not the time to be tripping.

A book called Wall of serpents. Featuring two people standing on, you guessed it, a wall of fucking snakes. And looking pretty smug about it too.

- going to events or markets just to browse is ok! Other people are more likely to stop at a booth if people are already there. Just don’t impede sales! - bring snacks. Someone brought me banana bread recently and I literally cried from gratitude at the thoughtfulness. (Also it was so good)

- order from any online shops you like that are still chugging along! - send cool stuff to your friends. Spreading the word is free. This includes texting them from a market you are at where you saw something cool irl. - visit shops that prioritize local makers. They are usually vocal about it.

- some artists don’t take commissions (like me), especially during the fall, so be nice about it. - repost their posts, especially about events, as often as you see them. Don’t care how low your follower count is. Help them get word out because algo’s suppress these posts due to lack of engagement

Ways you can help: - find out where/when local art markets are happening and raise a posse to go with you. - contact artists you already like to see how they are selling this season and the best way to support them. - commission anyone who takes coms NOW, it may be already too late for Xmas.

Previously, when your local small businesses were struggling, they could turn to online sales to keep things going but that’s not going to save us this time (Or is very unlikely to). This was mostly aimed at folks outside the US, but Americans, this is solid advice for you too.

They want the market to be 4 giant corps in a trenchcoat and we can’t let that happen. PPWR took affect in the EU just in time to decimate any hope small businesses there had of a successful holiday season. I highly doubt it’s a coincidence that US trade wars with Canada ramp up in late summer also.

I have discovered a very successful workaround to nearly all problems I have ever encountered. The second I complain about it to my husband, or the internet (depending on the severity) I will immediately solve said problem in a simple way, making myself look like the biggest idiot alive.
