Ok I lied, most times I don’t write anything on the 5 stars, but some of these are funny. I have a lot of opinions about re-recording perfectly good audiobooks. It’s like remaking a perfect movie. Why would I waste my time?! In this case, Laura lefko and William Hope already nailed it.

Here’s another one the booktok loves and seems right up my alley but I was so disappointed. I have more thoughts that are somewhat spoilery so I left them out. But man. Imagine having such a hilarious idea and then fumbling it so badly.

Wow. From the premise of this book (which is absolutely unhinged) I really expected a fun, silly story that would probably make me laugh and want to share it with my friends. But instead it was surprisingly boring. There was next to no plot, no interesting twists or turns, no story whatsoever, nothing but Minotaur splooge to glue those sex scenes together. I can't wrap my mind around how someone who came up with that premise, managed to fumble it so completely. I don't have much hope for the rest of the series now. What a disappointment.Cover of morning glory milking farm by c m nascosta. A woman swooning in the arms of a Minotaur pouring NOT MILK out of a metal bucket.

Welp that’s it, I officially have all the books except the third one, which is the one I actually need. Do I crumble and buy it new??? I don’t actually have time to read it now anyway so I should probably just be patient.
The eye of the bedlam bride and this inevitable ruin by Matt Dinniman sitting on my desk after I picked them up secondhand from the bookstore my wonderful friend works at and put on hold for me when she saw them.

Every so often, when I am feeling imposter syndrome or burn out, I enjoy going through my DNF list on Storygraph. When you give up on a book they ask you why, and I have a terrible memory for books I didn’t even bother finishing so reading my reasons makes me laugh.

I opened the kiln today and went through all the things I pulled out in my IG stories but I won’t lie, I don’t have any spoons left for posting here and captioning everything so here’s just one thing:

They are striped with pink and orange because that is my jam lately and have black sparkles and what appear to be white sparkles and white ghosts but PSYCH, that’s clear glaze and will just turn glossy and transparent when it’s fired!

I’ve been working very long hours to restock for my next two markets and I’m very tired. Today, I took advantage of an absolutely gorgeous afternoon to sit in the park and play solitaire with my new purse cards. I didn’t win.
A very cute game of solitaire with a deck of mini playing cards featuring a purple opossum, on a green park picnic table with the long shadows of late afternoon.

Also found the vintage mass market pulp section and was dying over the illustrations!!! I wanted every single book and I’d read them too, I wouldn’t just hoard them. But I would definitely also hoard them.
Wacky sci fi/fantasy book cover “Chiy-une” is the title and it features a bare chested dude shooing a rat gun while wearing an awesome amulet and cloak and sitting astride a weird-ass green monster with an oddly dressed woman gazing at him adoringly, also sitting on the weird monster. Cap Kennedy # 10 Planet of Dread by Gregory Kern. Just a dude about to trip and stab himself because he really should not be running while looking behind himself and carrying a very sharp looking sword. There’s a crab-legged guy in the BG, a floating fireball and some sinister sky-eyes. This is not the time to be tripping. A book called Wall of serpents. Featuring two people standing on, you guessed it, a wall of fucking snakes. And looking pretty smug about it too.

a portion of today’s book haul: 3 dungeon crawler Carl books that are not actually the one I need 🤷‍♀️ Not pictured: - Wilder Girls by Rory Power - Burn our Bodies Down by Rory Power (Two very good books with very good covers that I have already read and am trying to get the kiddo to read)
A stack of books by Matt Dinniman:

A parade of horribles
The gate of the feral gods
The butcher’s masquerade.

Friends. It’s more important than ever that we shop locally this season, especially heading into the holidays. Between trade wars and EU regulations a lot of small businesses are hurting real bad. Me at my market table last weekend for attention.

Now my house is a nightmare mess I have to deal with and I have less than a month to restock for the next two markets (it’s totally fine and I’m not having occasional gut plummeting anxiety at all!) Also here’s how my booth looked at some point, I really need to be on top of taking pics more often
My very pink booth from one corner, people were in my way. The morning sun hit these ceramic pots bells just right and made the pink GLOW. Cabbagetown this weekend was amazing. My booth packed down into these 4 totes, the tent bag, and some random nonsense, and it made me just a little sad, even tho I was very tired and needed to go home and not talk to anyone else for a week.

I took these out of the kiln this morning. I made them almost a year ago and have been sitting on them because I couldn’t get over painting them blue and I didn’t think they would sell if they were blue. Then I decided I don’t fucking care. See them at Cabbagetown art and craft show this weekend

Ok well…the cover design has gotten worse, but this is what I used to use to draw all my comics on. It’s very very smooth but has more heft to it than most marker paper.

This right here is my biggest beef with this book and Barnett’s thesis in general. He goes on and on about not liking didacticism in kids lit, insists he doesn’t want to teach but in this very story he taught kids that if you throw melon seeds on the ground, a melon will grow.
she stopped. Her eyes got huge. And then she bent down and picked up the melon and lifted it aloft.
"Look!" she said, and all the kids rushed over.
It was a real commotion.
"Wow, Riley, that's so cool!"
"Amazing!"
"Riley, you did it!"
(Clearly, this fiction Id created would, if anything, lead to more kids throwing their fresh fruit in the ivy.
Already I was uninterested in teaching lessons with my stories.)
And then there was a pause, and one kid said, "Hey,
why is there a supermarket sticker on this melon?" And all the children looked at me, skeptically.
And again I thought for a few seconds, and then I said, "That's also why I'm always telling you guys to throw your stickers in the trash can: Because when you litter, it ruins the beauty of nature."
And all the kids nodded and agreed that was indeed a
good explanation.
The rest of the day, wherever we went, Riley proudly carried her melon, which was bigger than her head, cra-aled in front of her like some precious and magical object.
Which it was! It's very hard to put into words, exactly:

I left some clay water on my porch to settle out so I could reclaim the sludge in the bottom. But then the storm happened and tossed them around. The porch is covered in porcelain clay muck and the raccoons have been having fun with it.

I bought low fire earthenware clay ages ago and finally made time to make some planters! I love them so much and they are the perfect size to pop some cute succulents in. The more porous earthenware pulls extra moisture from the soil, making it harder to overwater your succulents and cacti!

Ok so I’d love to put alt-text on this video, but I can’t because the alt-text button is currently UNDER the keyboard on my screen and I can’t actually tap it. So uh, it’s a video of a ceramic strawberry that is also a bell, but it’s not fired yet so it makes very quiet clunking sounds.

I don’t have any bats at all, I just use a heat gun and then pull them off the wheel head and keep going! I usually make 8-10 in one sitting but because I underglaze them so meticulously, I don’t make a ton of them ahead because they take forever and hurt my eyes and fingies.
