We really need to make sure people know this!! It’s never too late to quit smoking. Treating tobacco dependence is cancer treatment! We would not let this survival benefit pass us by of this was a new oncology drug. #BTOG25

So proud of our fellows Geri, Jodie and Adele for presenting their posters at #BTOG25, spanning attitudes to screening, the value of the SRM and ki67 as a prognostic discriminator in mesothelioma. Special praise to Lucy our IMT who won a rosette for her abstract reporting false + and - in screening.

Using Ki67 (30% cut off) defines two very different survival groups in high grade mesothelioma Better than using nuclear grade Readily available test Maybe we should be doing this for all patients?

Kevin Blyth: management of mesothelioma effusion 🔹IPC vs pleurodesis = equivalent efficacy For pleurodesis: 🔹 Talc = most effective agent 🔹 Big drain no better than smaller ones 🔹 NSAIDs fine for analgesia (won’t limit pleurodesis) 🔹 Talc slurry as good as poudrage
