“Theo! I can’t find my mirror!” Hermione rustled through her bag, still hoping she’d find what she already knew wasn’t there.

This dump of a hotel they’d been put up in didn’t have a mirror anywhere in the room, and of course, she’d left her handheld one at home.

While her coworker showered, she tried to do what she could to get ready with what little time she had left. The client dinner they were expected to attend together was rapidly approaching, but without a mirror, her hair and makeup were suffering. It felt like she’d been able to do most of it right from muscle memory. The only thing she was too nervous to risk messing up was her lipstick.

When the steady stream of the shower cut out, she shouted again. “I need your help!”

After a moment, Theo strode out of the room wearing just a towel which hung scandalously low across his hips. His sculpted abdomen was gleaming with water droplets in the shitty light and he was ruffling his still dripping curls in a way that made the lean muscles in his arms flex deliciously.

It took everything in her to avoid gawking lasciviously. Since they’d been partnered together, she had done everything in her rapidly dwindling power to avoid thinking or feeling about Theo in ways that would cross the line into inappropriate, but being forced to share a private room with him had whittled her restraint down to sawdust. Hermione could only clench her thighs in silent shame as he crossed the room to her.

By way of warning, he very coolly stated, “There are no hand towels, absolutely ridiculous,” before taking a seat next to her on her bed. At the very least, they each had their own mattresses to sleep on.

“Here, let me see.” He held out his hand and pinched the offered tube of raspberry red lipstick between long, graceful fingers. “Tip your head up.”

Hermione obeyed, perhaps too eagerly, lengthening the line of her neck and, consequently, bringing her face closer to his.

His free hand came up to her jaw to steady her, and like he’d done a few times before, he started painting her lips with the vibrant shade.
