If you are hiring, and you interview someone, even if you only interview them once, you need to tell them if you’re not offering them the job. Ghosting is WILDLY unprofessional imo. tbc I’m not applying for jobs or hiring people rn, but when I am hiring, I always communicate to the end.

PSA: DNI if you self-identify as trans, autistic, anxiety or DID. I am a strong believer in clinical diagnosis for conditions which carry stigma. The recent influx of people who self-diagnose is dangerous for those who genuinely suffer from mental illness as it hinders our ability to access support.

People who lambast and call foul on artists for going from 'safe' artwork to mature/dark art to explore their own art and then call that artist 'gross' - need to have lego wedged into the insole of their shoes. Artists don't owe you to remain 'safe' and can explore other mediums and themes.

You can make friends with clients. It happens. But the ones you're going to be friends with are going to be the ones that are okay with hearing no and don't have an outsized reaction to perceived rejection, because they understand you're a person and you're allowed to not like the actions of others.

If I had one tip for artists starting comms it would be write a TOS that creates comfortable distance between you and your client. You're not friends. It's business. Say no when no is the answer. Be polite, but don't drown your NOs in apology that doesn't belong there.
