It is true. My parents have these itty bitty little forks -- normal length but skinny handle, TINY tines that are smaller than toddler fork tines -- and I love them an unreasonable amount. Specifically love to eat rice with the tiny forks.

I had hoped this year would be my “practice garden,” but I’ve upgraded to “this garden will be load-bearing.” I can’t fix the system, but I can reduce the degree to which I am reliant on it. This would be a good year to experiment with gardening or raising livestock locally if you’ve considered it.

Accurate. And if I remove an earbud, it is 100% always the left one. Right ear = private listening ear. Left ear = public/environment listening ear. We have earpieces at work to communicate and it is Intolerably Weird for me to have the earpiece on the left, even when that would be more convenient.

This vein of commentary always gives me two reactions: 1. Duh 2. Producing your own food is still worth pursuing. Do what you can on the scale that you can, which is (a) definitely not gonna be 100% self-sufficiency and (b) probably also a hell of a lot more than what you're doing today. Just start.

An autism diagnosis is too often used to excuse the appalling behavior of boys who grow up to be wicked men, and punish the innocent behavior of girls who grow up to be traumatized women. It also dehumanizes autistic people to suggest we lack the capacity for deliberate malice. We don't claim him.

Today I am gathering my fence posts and my farm map. I can’t control the world, but I can install a fence for a pasture that geese will graze in. This is the year when my first fruit trees go in the ground. I don’t know what tomorrow will bring, but I know it will have goslings, apples and peaches.
