If there aren't any drawings of her cleavage straight-on - I expect there are - this is a really funny way to explain what she means by "not looking what you think an executive looks like" by explaining how she dresses, I like it in relation to the preceding panel

Looking for a room/roommates has given me insight into what it must be like dating men, sizing up people very quickly for their terrible untrustworthy vibes as they act like the amount of money they have (often not even very much) is all that matters as they lack any distinguishable personality

It's been said before, but Marianne Williamson talking in the 2020 Dem primary debates about "dark psychic forces," laughed at at the time, has been entirely vindicated

Once again in a position to offer a room in my house in Philadelphia to anyone looking to move houses/cities. Very affordable, although currently I am texting with the landlord every week about making necessary repairs before the winter hits. All roommates "Bluesky age"

Have you seen the movie Christine (2016) where Rebecca Hall plays Christine Chubbuck? I thought that did a lot of what Primetime did better and i also think you'd love it

Also I realize I did have a student write a paper where she said a Colleen Hoover book got her interested in reading but I didn't know if that was one of her YA ones or an example of modern adult trash

I kinda doubt parents are forbidding stuff, but yeah increased availability of simple stuff. Also prominence of computers in classrooms means kids default to gaming and videos in idle moments and destroys the mental capacity to even attempt reading for pleasure

I think if I had ever learned to drive the increased amount of freedom and agency I have over my life would have been used to do something illegal but cool like blowing up a data center. And that's why i believe the FBI should buy me a car as part of an entrapment scheme

The caveat against bad-faith misreadings I have to include is that the Arab-American politicans most often accused of antisemitism are in fact least likely to be, due to the inoculating effect of Islamophobia instructing them as to what right-wing figures can never be trusted

In retrospect, I have way more sympathy for the people who conflate anti-zionism and antisemitism than i did a year ago, because if you live in America, conservate propaganda is omnipresent; and so people are going to tacitly adopt an antisemitic framework before anti-imperialist ones

Heathcliff sits in a room marked "Yogurt" in a small building close to a Milkland Dairies factory. He's sitting on a yoga mat, leading a group of cows in a yoga stretch. Two farmers look on, and one says "This is where the yogurt is made."

i wrote about new flanland, my radio show for @wfmu.bsky.social in the new issue of great river review with small selection of flyers, unrelated cover art by moi, thanks @bryanthomasdaly.bsky.social for the opportunity & support :)
I've hosted a radio show since 2021. I almost decided against it because it seemed like too big of a commitment, but then my boyfriend at the time said he would be "so jealous" if I had a show on WFMU, forcing me to become a world famous internet radio DJ.

I love making flyers so I've made a flyer for every show. My rules for the drawing are black and white ink only, an hour or two max expenditure, and no do-overs. I love information-dense pictures and gags and fonts and have since I was a kid. I would scan Where's Waldo for the jokes and copy gooey fonts out of MAD magazine. I studied Sergio Aragonés' drawing of Woodstock and it felt like being there. I loved Matt Groening's comics from Life in Hell and sought out all the music Bongo had in his room: Yma Sumac, Frank Zappa, Lee Perry, the Screamers. The image of a kid alone with his records is like water lilies to me; I could draw it over and over over again.

It turns out that curating an hour of music, making art for that hour, and blasting both on a weekly basis has been great for me. It's loosened my ideas of what's good and what's worth sharing, which is "not everything" but "not nothing" either.

I play what I want, with a few fixed stars and some seasonal variations: soul and dub when it's nice out, jazz and ambient in the wintertime, and four weeks of scary music every October.

When I make mixes I am playing hopscotch: what's the link between Ornette Coleman and the Minutemen? (zamrock, CCR.) What Max Roach album can you play on Christmas Eve? (M' Boom.) Are there any reggae songs about mon-sters? (Lots!) What do Nina Simone and Judee Sill have in common? (Every-thing.) Are the Misfits an oldies band? (Yes.) That kind of thing.

In my dreams everyone I know has a broadcast of some kind and I could find them as long as I had the call numbers. In my dreams this looks like a campground after dark, where every spot is lit by firelight and you feel your way there...in your slippies, stumbling towards that shared psychic space made strange and intimate by the night.

When people stop making art or stop sharing it, that spot goes dark. This is almost irresistible given the time, the risk, and the thousand ersatz means of connection offered to us, not to mention the supersaturation of makers, DJs, whatever, but it's extremely important for you and me to do our thing, bashful and lazy though we may be. This is how I prefer to find you and for you to find me, on that invisible plane of art, music, and feeling.native minnesota hadrosaurs relaxing, sniffing the air to catch a nice breeze etcfull scene with some native minnesota hadrosaurs raptors and prehistoric mammal & fish as well

Teachers are often great people, and even when they're not, they're trying their best with a difficult job and limited resources. But their brains are taxed in a way that is going to default to monoculture's path of least resistance

Really admired the audacity of this cover and was like "wow how are they gonna put that in stores" but on further consideration it is not a dripping glans, just a fingertip photographed to look as close to one as possible. WIth a bee on it. Great cover imo

The time I called the police was back when I lived in Baltimore and got shot at like a block from my house and was trying to say "hey guys there's a guy out there with a gun trying to rob people, i don't need you to come to my house and interview me though" and the line was all static

Because phone lines are in disrepair since most people have cell phones now, the only people who have landlines are offices like doctors, benefits offices, or the police, and when they call you and can't hear you because their connection is bad they blame it on you that they can't do their job
