Gasoline prices were briefly sky-high under Biden, in the immediate aftermath of Putin's Ukraine invasion. Then they came down, well before his term ended. Gas is up +39.4% from a year ago. Diesel it at ALL TIME high prices, up +67.0% from a year ago.

I'm not the audience for the Smith hearing, but the main political issue here is that Republicans want the world to know that Smith subpoenaed congressional phone records as he investigated Jan. 6 etc, and nobody outside the Senate can explain to you why that's bad.

Sen. Eric Schmitt accused Jack Smith of perjury for denying he attended a Feb. 3, 2024 Atlanta Hawks vs. Golden State Warriors game. Turns out, Jack Smith was actually at an Iowa Hawkeyes game in Maryland, watching Caitlin Clark play. @samsteindc.bsky.social breaks down Schmitt's humiliation:

Yeesh. ICYMI, Schmitt’s big gotcha was Smith was supposedly at an Atlanta Hawks game around the time that allegations against Fani Willis came out. He wasn’t. He was at an Iowa HAWKEYES game in Maryland to watch Caitlyn Clark play.

🤡 Schmitt beclowns himself 🤡 Schmitt concocted an elaborate conspiracy theory that Smith traveled to Atl for a Hawks game and to collude with Fani Willis, & flashed his "evidence" before accusing Smith of perjury. There's just one problem -- his facts were totally wrong. Here's the whole sequence:

Samuel Basallo. I didn’t realize he’s only 21 years old. If the bat continues to develop, maybe the Orioles won’t miss Adley too much.

A couple quick observations here, which should be obvious. 1) insurance “risk pools” work by requiring younger/healthier people who make few or no claims to sign up and pay premiums alongside older/less healthy people who do, essentially covering their costs.
