#OnThisDay Sept 23 1955: 15 months after Twin Cities Rapid Transit streetcars last ran, city crews begin pulling up the tracks for scrap, starting on 11th St at Hennepin Ave in downtown Minneapolis. Heavy Belgian blocks that once held the ight of way in place were also removed.

It was thrilling, in a way, to bike home from Saint Paul to Uptown tonight without rain gear and cross Sabo Bridge in a thunderstorm. Once I got home, I bent my feet and saw water coming out the tops of my shoes 😁

city will fix 2 notorious Uptown bike lane problems between now and 2028: -connect the missing link on Lake between Humboldt & Hennepin Ave. -convert to a 2 way bike lane on Hennepin between Lake & 31st; create curbside parking for food delivery drivers who always park in the existing lanes.

We tried all 3 of the new Oreo flavors so you don’t have to. Chicken and Waffles: savory, oddly delicious. “Like if a Chicken in a Bizkit cracker and a golden Oreo had a baby” Deep Fried: it’s fine. Everyone agreed it was kind of boring Banana Pudding: One of the worst things I’ve ever eaten

Heads up, the Midtown Greenway will be closed from Aug 3-7 for 10th Ave for bridge work and for CenterPoint Energy utility work (around 13th and 14th Aves). These were scheduled together to minimize closures. The detour is on 28th St from Park Ave S to 18th Ave S. #MidtownGreenway

Remember that this smoke is climate change visualized. If we want a smoke free future we have to combat it in every arena: transportation, infrastructure, housing, waste management, energy use, etc. It also means, combating doomerism, we can take action for a better future! No battle is too small!

Hell yeah! Almost seven years after Theodore Ferrara was killed by a driver on Lyndale, and we started advocating for serious change, we got there. It's not a perfect design (there are a lot of things I'd do differently), but it's light-years better than the 2019 status quo.

The Lyndale Ave reconstruction was approved 8-4 at the Minneapolis City Council meeting this morning! We've been working on this #LivableLyndale effort for over three years and believe this new street design will be a great improvement to the area. I hope that Mayor Frey will approve too.
