Good article by @michaelsavage.bsky.social for @theguardian.com on the changes to BBC Sport's coverage. If it's about popularity, there's a ways to go. For example, basketball is the second-most popular UK sport by participation numbers, but BBC coverage of the NBA, SLB, etc, is minimal at best.

The main line I took from the article was; "they have been directing the BBC’s limited resources towards making content for growing online audiences, especially the insatiable appetite for Premier League football analysis" Where's this added 'analysis'? All I see is more bantz more of the time.

I once saw Enes Kanter speak truth to power. Now he only punches down | Bryan Armen Graham

Nearly a decade after I watched him defy Erdoğan at great personal cost, the ex-NBA player is using his hard-won freedom to turn transgender people into a punchline Nine years ago, I watched Enes Kanter ask America to take him in. It was May 2017, inside the National Basketball Players Association’s offices in midtown Manhattan. Kanter had just returned from a frightening detention at Bucharest airport, where Romanian border police told him Turkey had canceled his passport. He’d just turned 25, an NBA center with a green card and no country he could safely call home. “I’m open for adoption,” he joked from the head of a table in a nondescript conference room, addressing a dozen reporters hastily summoned by his manager. Then he turned serious: “My next move is to just become an American citizen.” Continue reading...

With the 76ers' other additions, they'd already firmly put themselves in the contention conversation for next season. Adding LBJ as well on a team-friendly salary only helps them more. If they can find a way to keep Embiid healthy, Philadelphia are going to be a problem next season.

Good article about whether Morgan Rogers will actually fit Xabi Alonso's preferred style of play at Chelsea. No doubt Alonso will be expected to adapt his style of play, but I do wonder how he can be expected to accommodate everyone given Chelsea also have Palmer, Gittens, Pedro Neto, etc.
