Today, I am sad. I started at Xbox in 2017 working on the achievements backend. Spent some time on Mixer, then worked on the twitch integration. There's a lot in between but too much to post. Had a stint at riot for a bit, and came back in 2024.

Same event, one year difference. Maybe the difference is just the lighting. Or the hair. Or the clothes. But, I'm also 20 pounds lighter this year. Still a ways to go but this feels like maybe some visible progress.

Currently watching old seasons of Ink Master and am absolutely devastated to discover that I have the same style as late 2000s/early 2010s Dave Navarro.

I started doing reduction block printing recently, but instead of ink I've been using watercolor. It's challenging but I'm having a ton of fun.

I will never not be obsessed with The Stormlight Archive. Journey before destination.

Highlighted text from Oathbringer by Brandon Sanderson.

"The past is the future, and as each man has lived, so must you."

"So I can but repeat what has been done before?"

"In some things, yes. You will love. You will hurt. You will dream. And you will die. Each man’s past is your future."

"Then what is the point?" I asked. "If all has been seen and done?"

"The question," she replied, "is not whether you will love, hurt, dream, and die. It is what you will love, why you will hurt, when you will dream, and how you will die. This is your choice. You cannot pick the destination, only the path."

Here is your Xbox Starter Pack to easily follow Xbox employees, Xbox studios, titles, and staff, and other gaming-adjacent employees at Microsoft. It's still a work in progress, so let me know about others I should add. #Xbox go.bsky.app/UN78mEo

Every time I attempt a new social media platform it becomes blatantly obvious that I'm not interesting at all and people only followed me because of job and exposure from that

Really enjoying Veilgaurd so far but I must admit the first acts story feels sort of clunky. Hopefully it gets better.

Since we may or may not be migrating here, I'll reintroduce myself! Hi I'm Brenna. I'm a Senior Software Engineer at Xbox, I've been in gaming since 2017. I like to make crappy art, read an unhealthy amount of fantasy books, and recently Balatro has taken far too much of my free time.

It's not hard to find underrepresented people working in games. It's not hard to have a diverse group of people presenting games. There's no excuse. It shouldn't be a debate. Holy shit.
