On Friday, I am going to give a talk about how React "hack" promises to allow async behavior in synchronous functions. Feedback appreciated maxwellcohen.github.io/slides/color...

I've finally been able to put all frontend solutions on the same grid by recognizing them as a product of 2 axes and 3 core responsibilities. HTMX, LiveView, RSCs, islands, SPAs, Sync Engines... None express what another can't. They differ in efficiency and ergonomics. 👇

Next.js 16.3 Instant Navigations lets you balance reusable content with fresh or personalized data while keeping navigation responsive, like a SPA. I built next16-airline.vercel.app to try this in a common multi-step flow. See the source and learn more below ↓

Another tease of the @e18e.dev framework tracker is our improvement-over-time page for each framework. We record each major and minor version for every test. Picking on @solidjs.com here, but look at some of the improvements in version two for SolidStart. SSR First Paint and Build Times:

I mean I like Solid's approach. I think Svelte has like an `overrides` thing. I haven't looked in a bit tho

Brenelz @brenelz.com · 12/09/2026
@rman.dev what you been working on these days?

Brenelz @brenelz.com · 12/09/2026
yeah I think most frameworks have the derived state now. I think Sveltes optimistic state leaves a bit to be desired tho

Great article! I don't want to think about how many hours I spent fighting derived state in Angular/VueJS/React, and SolidJS has the defaults I wanted all along. What are the little things you love about the framework/library of choice?
Screenshot from the article

Derived State You Can Override
Having writable derived state is easy in Solid. All you do is pass in a function to a primitive like createSignal. This gives you a local override of props.name in this example, but when props.name changes from above it will reset to that value.

import { createSignal } from "solid-js";

function Example(props) {
  const [name, setName] = createSignal(() => props.name);
}

it also needs a persistent server?

Youd have to ask Gabriel
000
Brenelz @brenelz.com · 12/09/2026
Yeah i agree. Using react for your personal blog is overkill, but similarly using datastar for a highly interactive app is similar

Brenelz @brenelz.com · 12/09/2026
Im not sure "just serve html" solves these issues. Gabriel literally got the kanban app to freeze

i think in this case I prefer the holding of images instead of flickering in. I could probably do something like that with Solid just didn't spend too much time on it
