boycotts are easy to understand! when the union says "please boycott this company until they give workers a fair shake," we just don't go there any more! we can stop by the picket line and donate lunches or money, too! solidarity is fuckin awesome! with enough of it we can change the world!

LOL not me thinking "dinner" was simply the more metropolitan term but still code-switching whenever talking to my folks 😂

Wow, a late submission but I'm hearing we've finally reached consensus on the song of the summer and it's "Dance Like It's a Bit and You're Mister Bit Guy"??

I find it very liberating, as someone who is both vaguely aware of the trends but no longer the target demographic, that I can adopt a 'take it or leave it' approach to them. You can rip my high-waisted pants out of my cold dead hands, but yes, okay, I'm a bootcut girly now 🤷

snakes leave behind whole skins. all manner of flying creatures, not just butterflies, do them one better, whole new selves from wriggling worms. rocks into gems. mystics die to the flesh to be reborn in the spirit. rebirth is the rule, not the stray exception, if we can grasp it

I think it's totally valid to feel grateful for being able to survive these tumultuous times in our industry while also grieving the opportunities for growth and advancement that disappeared seemingly overnight.

I see folks frequently asking for affordable alternatives to Squarespace and the like, so I thought I'd mention that carrd, the site I use for my website, is having a 40% off sale until Dec. 10th with the code 'BLK2025'! try.carrd.co/blk2025

Another vote for carrd! Cheap but not the most intuitive. I have a 'Pro Standard' account, which is good enough for most things, but I had to implement some crazy workarounds to do stuff the higher-pay tiers offer. Thankfully, you can input simple code to customize a lot of stuff.

Titmouse Vancouver workers have a tentative deal on their second contract! ✊🐦

A blue cartoon bird is smiling and stepping out of a maple leaf symbol, with one hand outstretched and two fingers raised in the peace/two symbol. Bright red text at the top reads "WE DID IT!" and at the bottom there is text that reads " Titmouse Vancouver workers and the employer have reached a second tentative deal. Learn more at tm-ratification.info

Text reads "The Canadian Animation Guild, IATSE Local 938, is happy to announce that the animation workers at Titmouse Vancouver have renegotiated a tentative agreement on their second contract, with workers voting on the agreement in three weeks’ time.

Some key victories for the Titmouse workers in this agreement includes, but is not limited to:

Increased wage minimums, with increases of 9.5% or more over three years

Recognition of Leads, with increased wage minimums and crediting

Improved job security, giving current and returning workers access to preferential hiring

Meal Penalties to compensate workers directed to work through their meal breaks

AI language providing worker protections in line with other IATSE contracts"

Text reads "“Four years ago, Titmouse workers established a foundation for the workplace they wanted to see.” says Eddy Pedreira, President of CAG 938, “Today, they have built upon this foundation in many ways, taking one step closer to this vision. The improvements in this new agreement show that even when our industry is at its most turbulent, collective bargaining still wins the day.”

Animation workers in Titmouse Vancouver’s creative roles were the first Canadian animation workers to form a union under IATSE Local 938 on October 13th, 2020 and they were joined by Titmouse production workers in 2023. IATSE Local 938, The Canadian Animation Guild, was chartered on April 21st, 2020, and is Canada’s first dedicated union Local for animation workers. The Canadian Animation Guild is actively organizing more workers across Animation, Video games and VFX studios with the goal of improving the working lives of their peers.

John Lewis, IATSE International Vice-President and Director of Canadian Affairs said, “We are proud of the wins that Titmouse Vancouver workers have secured in their new agreement. These improvements are a testament to the commitment we have seen consistently from this group of workers.”

CAG will be hosting town halls for Titmouse workers to prepare them to vote on their agreement on September 24th and 25th, 2025.
