They are so loud! I used to have to dodge them quite frequently when biking to work back when I was in retail! Used to show up in my parents' neighborhood as well, including one getting (illegally) captured by their neighbor and kept in a gazebo.

Popped amaranth is absolutely delicious, but yeah, quite a bit smaller than corn! I think corn is generally the largest of the grains (true grain or not) so they're all going to be smaller.

Absolutely! I have some snacking weaknesses, and I make a real effort not to buy the stuff in the first place now. Then my big one is craft/single origin chocolate. And since I've started actually journaling my tasting experience etc, that is easier....

aha! fascinating place, wish I'd gotten to spend more time out there. the sandstone 'beaches' with nodules exposed from differential concretion are really weird to walk around. the inner part is super alien looking too with the summer deciduous Leptosyne gigantea 'forests'

SSB got a truly, truly, unfathomable amount of play in our lounge. Goldeneye too but it didn't have an hour tracker that I remember. Every character in SSB got maxed out playtimes (multiple times because some asshat would reset the game save)

Pepper, our inordinately fluffy one, has to get a trim because he is just unmanageable with hairballs otherwise. Every time he seems deeply embarrassed for at least a day or two on top of being betrayed. I feel so bad but he's so much happier the rest of the time that way!

"Strawberry sapphire" cabochon, an alexandrite (my spouse's favorite stone), LYSO, BGO12, Christmas Garnet, and a fluorite. I don't really know if we're going to end up getting any of them other than the sapphire put in anything, or just have fun with them as they are!

Absolutely. Not too long after I started working retail, while still going to school so everything became even more of a blur. I do remember finding the discourse differences between work and school very amusing. Both had a big contingent of "Bush did it"... but from different directions.
